Meet Korina Castrejon | Wedding Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Korina Castrejon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Korina, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
When I first started my business I can honestly say I took on too much. I was constantly working and didn’t give myself a break to rest. If I wasn’t doing something for my business or couples, I immediately thought I was failing and not doing a good job. As my business began to grow, so did I. I realized that I needed to give myself a break and take advantage of my days and months that were slower. Working a wedding can mean 10+ hours on your feet, so I make sure I give myself a relaxing day after to rest my body and my mind. Giving myself this time helps me in the end and I am able to come back to work feeling rejuvenated and happy. This gives me and my couples the best version of myself and that’s so important to me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
After working for 2 wonderful San Diego wedding planners, I gained the confidence and experience to start my own business in February 2020. Little did I know, COVID was upon us and about to change the way we see events. Although at the time I thought it was the worst time to start a business, it was actually the most perfect time. I used 2020 to grow my brand, website and create vendor relationships through styled shoots. By the time 2021 came around, weddings were starting to come back and my calendar booked up! The surge in weddings has not stopped since as we continue to play catch up from cancelled weddings in 2020.
My business stands out from others due to the personalized experience I give my couples. I take pride in getting to know my couples love story and taking the time to create a detailed design that matches their vision. I aim to create lasting relationships with not only my couples, but with vendors too. It’s important that my couples have fun during the wedding planning process while also feeling confident in every step.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love San Diego! Some of my favorite spots are Balboa Park, Seaport Village, La Jolla Cove and Old Town. Portside Pier in downtown San Diego is a great spot to get some food. Another fun activity would be watching a baseball game or attending a concert at Petco Park. I love a good beer, so making sure we hit up some tap rooms is a must!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
