We had the good fortune of connecting with Kierra Heinly and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kierra, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The moment I began my personal fitness journey in 2015, my entire world transformed. I was no longer someone who was merely “alive” on this planet, I was living IN it. I developed a newfound sense of control within my own mind, which positively impacted my day-to-day life in relationships, work, and anything I was pursuing at that time. It was this sense of clarity and serenity which led me to yearn for my own business – one where I could teach others the importance of mental and physical wellness in hopes to positively impact lives.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There is no path in life worth exploring that will be “easy.” An “easy” life simply does not exist. Each person faces their own challenges at every point in their life, within every pillar of their existence which resonates with them. That is sort of the point of life – to challenge ourselves in ways which ignite our souls – and we inevitably grow as a result.
What I HAVE done, which I believe sets me apart from others, is learned to let go of the word “mistake.” I always say,
“In life, there are no mistakes; only learning opportunities. The only “mistake” is not learning when given the opportunity.”
I thoroughly believe I am where I am today because I have learned to grow from every experience – no matter how basic or unenjoyable. For example, if you eat eggs and you throw up because you find that you have an allergy to eggs, you stop eating eggs. It wasn’t a mistake to eat the eggs in the first place, because you learned that you cannot tolerate them. So instead of looking negatively at that experience, one could call it a “win” because they learned something new about themselves.
This simple principle is one which I have consciously worked hard at implementing in every aspect of my life over the years – whether it be in business, work, or household chores. Everything you experience, you experience for a reason. Use that to your advantage.
But hey – if you just now realizing how hard you’ve been on yourself today – don’t worry. You haven’t fallen off the wagon. You’re still you. Living, breathing, you. And now you’ve learned to go a little easier on yourself tomorrow. 🙂
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely start by going to Mission Beach to hit a workout at Fit Athletic gym. By far one of the best gyms I have ever been to. Great energy, rooftop view of the ocean, great people. Then we would probably go surfing down by the Sunset Cliffs, and watch the sunset. The next day, we’d wake up early to watch the sunrise over Point Loma, maybe go fishing for some fresh Ahi Tuna and cook it to perfection. We would most certainly visit Little Italy and eat some incredible Italian food during their visit, and probably spend the rest of the time taking in the incredible views of the Pacific (they are really hard to beat!).
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to Promix Nutrition. I began working with Promix Nutrition in the latter half of 2021, and absolutely fell in love with their mission to fuel athletes all around the world with the cleanest and most bio-friendly ingredients available. The entire team behind the brand – and the communal system they have manifested – is made up of the most hardworking, trustworthy and kind souls I have ever met. It is truly my honor and privilege to be able to call myself part of the Promix Nutrition Family.
