We had the good fortune of connecting with Kevin Le and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kevin, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in California from an immigrant family that had very little understanding of how America worked. I was raised with American culture from TV, video games, & movies and had to develop an identity on my own through the lenses of The Simpsons, Mad TV, Final Fantasy 7, and the chaos of the internet. Through my journey of self-identity, I discovered how to use the power of comedy as a way to understand and connect with others using smiles and laughter.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a multi-media artist and I try to include elements of comedy however I can. I made a website that I would put on my dating app profiles (www.kevinsdatingprofile.com), graphic design work for miscellaneous tasks, and currently I’m focusing on comedy skits that I’ll throw on my Instagram/Tik Tok.

What I think makes me a bit unique is that I grew up seeing the evolution of internet humor for over 20 years and have been consuming comedy podcasts for over 15. With all that chaos, I was able to create an identity of humor that people seem to like so when I approach my work, I attempt to add those elements of fun that I absorbed to demonstrate my brand of humor.

Everything from web design, graphic design, and video editing has been self taught so I face a lot of technical challenges along the way but with patience and enough YouTube videos, I was able to learn how to do something to get the desired results.

One of the biggest challenge & lessons I’ve learned in creating things with the intention of getting people to laugh is trusting my gut that something is funny. Writing comedy sometimes means taking a swing and not every swing will connect but those are opportunities to learn more about the craft so I can refine it to be a better artist.

The only closing message I would like to include is that if anyone wants to see uncomfortable, absurd, and silly videos — follow me on social media! @kevindotjpeg

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve been spending a lot of time seeing the underground warehouse rave scene in LA so my main focus would be around that. These events start around 11pm and end around 6am so it’s very different from traditional hang-out spots. As their tour guide, I would take them to enjoy great Vietnamese cuisine in Orange County, followed by taking some disco naps, and then punctuating the night with dancing to loud electronic music during the late hours.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To all my friends and family members that have supported my chaos.
