We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Bourgeois and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The quiet moments are some of the best moments. Getting lost in the artistry helps me to relax and therefore get as creative as my mind allows. Some of my best work is actually done while no one is talking. The silence is therapeutic to both the artist and client.

The joy I receive when a woman walks away feeling confidant and beautiful is such an exuberant feeling. The road that has led me to being a lash artist with two boutique style salons has been long, rewarding, and exciting. My love for the beauty industry runs deep and I take much pride in that.
It has followed me through many stages of my life including having children and finishing my BA degree.
My artistry grew through the years and each year I seemed to challenge myself as well as my skills.
My first suite salon grew to a double suite, which eventually grew to two lash locations that include lash extensions and beginner and advanced lash training.
I began teaching other new lash artists in 2018 and have trained hundreds of students successfully.
Many lessons were learned through the years and the number one challenge was to believe in myself. I tried to always have a small goal to achieve and when I reached that goal that was when I would reach for a higher goal.
Having Lashwell makes me extremely happy. I love the small business I have created and I am so grateful for all the kind hearted people who have helped me in my journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

The beaches in north county San Diego are my absolute favorite places to be! Encinitas is where I feel most at home. A lovely day with a friend would be be starting with a coffee at Lofty Coffee or grabbing a smoothy at Choice Juicery. There are so many trails now you can walk for miles in Cardiff, Encinitas, or Carlsbad. The lagoon meets ocean meets sand and waves for miles. The small shops in each of these places are all one better than the next with thrift stores and boutiques,
Maybe stop at VG Donuts, Nectarine Grove, Better Buzz, Le Papagayo, Vicciluccis, the list goes on and on!
Barefoot on the warm sand never disappoints, walking your dog, enjoying a sunset. It doesn’t take much in this area to be content.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I was 18 years old my Aunt excitedly told me ,”You should go to Cosmetology school because you love doing your nails!” This sounds so trivial yet it impacted my life is so many ways.
This one statement led me down many roads of self improvement, friendships, dedication and fulfillment.
