Meet Keith Gleason | Creator of the Mighty Mascots & Promoter for the Plastic City Comic Con

We had the good fortune of connecting with Keith Gleason and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Keith, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was a natural evolution that went from just making my own comic books to starting my own comic con. So I wouldn’t quite say it was a thought process but more of a natural progression.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I began my art career at the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and graphic arts back in 1996 and have been making comic books ever since. Primarily a writer and letterer these days I’m the creator of the “Mighty Mascots” which was released in 2019 with great success! In addition to that I have self published many titles including “Hero Envy”, “Reckless Chronicles”, “Swamp Tales”, and “Kid Switch”.
In 2016 after attending several conventions and finding less and less comic books, I decided to start my own show with a focus on comic books and the creators that make them.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to all of the comic and book stores in the area. I would also make a point to hit any arcades or restaurants along the way.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shout out to my wife Amy who is a talented artist and my rock when things get stressful!
