We had the good fortune of connecting with Kat Walsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kat, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
This question is easy for me as I also own a company called Peace Place For Kids which helps kids connect to peace through mindfulness, movement and meditation. I have published 12 books that teach kids about positive thinking, gratitude and love and help parents raise peaceful kids in a vibration of love.
The single most important things that I have done as a parent are to accept my children just as they are, love them unconditionally and allow them to follow their hearts.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business if High Vibe Brands. I had a very successful career in fashion buying in NYC. My job was to spot trends for the trendiest stores. About 12 years ago I had a feeling retail was never going to be the same again and I moved to Santa Fe. I started thinking what do I want to do? I had a strong passion for marketing but I had a gut feeling that the old way of marketing was dying. I started to examine Facebook and Twitter and decided social media was the future. That is when High Vibe was born. I created a business where I did full service social media marketing before it was a thing and before Instagram and TikTok. This business suits me well because I love change and new trends. During covid I spent a year studying TikTok. I knew it was going to be big. Now I am teaching courses in TikTok.
I love what I do, I get to work with amazing clients who are doing great things in the world and amplify their message. The business I started out with is the same business I am doing today. I am super proud of myself! For real…
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, living in Santa Fe I have had many people come and visit. I love to take them to Star Dreaming in Galisteo. The land vibrates with love. The owner channeled and created eighteen labyrinths filled with crystals. Next Ojo Caliente for a soak in healing spring waters. A hike at Ghost Ranch is a must, the energy is insane. Georgia O’Keefe’s home in Abiquiu. Her home is stylish, minimalistic and inspiring. I would top it off with a dinner at Izunami at Ten Thousand waves. It is an exquisite Japanese restaurant nestled in the mountains. Of course we would visit my favorite artists galleries and see some amazing sunsets and possibly a rainbow! We get a lot of them here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would give a shout out to my mom who taught me to love unconditionally and to be positive and grateful. Honestly, to the Santa Fe community and all the wonderful people I have met here that are so super supportive! Santa Fe welcomed me with open arms and so much love. I was truly loved and accepted here just as I am. Being an entrepreneur means putting yourself out there and it can be scary at times. My Santa Fe community made it so much easier!
