Meet Kaelin Davis

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaelin Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kaelin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk is where it all started!
I spent six years working as a bartender while also building my freelance photography career. I’d shoot in the mornings and afternoons, then head straight into a night shift behind the bar, only to wake up and do it all over again. Eventually, I realized I couldn’t take my photography to the next level while juggling both.
Leaving a steady income and benefits was terrifying, but I knew I had to take that leap of faith and go all-in on my business. And honestly, holy cow! It turned out to be the best decision I’ve ever made for myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a freelance photographer based in Newport Beach, CA.
My love for photography ignited over a decade ago when I started school in beautiful Santa Barbara. Since then, I’ve delved into various genres, like product photography, family portraits, and capturing the magic of weddings. But it was through fashion and lifestyle photography that I discovered my true passion.
In every photoshoot, my mission is to capture moments that tell a story and evoke emotions. Building a connection with my clients is a top priority for me because I believe it’s through that connection that we create truly inspiring imagery.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OKAY. We are definitely hitting up Bear Flag for lunch, I’d order us the peruvian ceviche, hurricane roll and a fish taco (extra tommy sauce). Then we would make our way down the the beach, get a little tan and swim in. Later into the night, we would drive down to Laguna Beach and get burgers and caesar salads from Ahba. Always with a crisp Aperol Spritz. Next morning we’d be ride bikes to Alta coffee for breakfast and a iced toffee latte.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a shout-out to my friends and my fiancé, they believed in me, encouraged me to leave the hospitality industry, and helped me realize I was capable of pursuing photography full-time. They were a huge support during that transitional period.
