We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Galloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Justin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started Salt Box Studio so that I would have a place to collaborate with my team and also as a place that fosters the creation of great work by others. We want our guests to feel at home and to have the freedom to create their best work.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Salt Box Studio is a photo/video rental studio that hosts shoots for content creation teams. We also host meetings, events, seminars, and trainings. As a commercial photographer, I wanted a studio of my own for years. I searched for a while and came upon the ideal spot on the edge of San Diego and La Mesa.

It’s great to have a place to shoot my own projects, and I also enjoy hosting others that need a place to create. I often help out on the shoots that I host by handling the lighting or digital capture station.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Las Cuatro Milpas for the Best Mexican Food. Little Italy
A concert at SDSU’s Open Air Theatre

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All of San Diego’s professional photographers
