We had the good fortune of connecting with Julia Offenberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julia, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been drawn to the power of creativity to connect people and tell meaningful stories. I pursued a creative career because it allows me to blend my passion for storytelling with the impact that well-crafted content can have on audiences. My interest in this field was sparked in high school when I launched FrecklyMag, a digital and print magazine born from my passion for intersectional feminism and my drive to address the underrepresentation of marginalized voices.

FrecklyMag gave me the chance to combine my love for art, writing, and activism into a platform that resonated with young women. It fostered important conversations, amplifying voices that had been previously silenced, and inspiring others to take action. The project opened unexpected doors, including opportunities to meet Gloria Steinem, speak at symposiums, and attend conferences with figures like Jada Pinkett Smith, Serena Williams, and John Legend.

This experience solidified my commitment to a creative career, where I can use my skills to make a difference. Through marketing and content creation, I strive to create work that connects, engages, and empowers people. This passion for impactful storytelling continues to drive everything I do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m still early in my career, but my work in marketing is driven by a passion for helping brands find their voice and connect with their audiences. What sets me apart is my dedication and detail-oriented approach, along with a personable nature that allows me to build meaningful connections with clients. I’m a people person, and I love working directly with clients every day. Whether it’s through agency work or freelancing, I’m proud of the connections I’ve built and the trust my clients have in me. One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing a campaign I’ve crafted resonate with people and deliver results.

There have been moments of self doubt, but in those times, I always come back to why I started and reconnect with the passion I have for this work. What’s helped me through is having tough skin and being adaptable—both of which are crucial in an industry where change and feedback are constant. While my career is still unfolding, I’m excited for what’s to come as I continue learning and growing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE showing my friends from out of town my favorite spots around San Diego! If my best friend visited for a week, we’d start with brunch at Blue Whale Cafe in La Jolla, spend a day at Windansea Beach, and grab tacos from The Taco Stand to enjoy during sunset. Another day would be spent at Pacific Beach with dinner at PB Sushi, and drinks at Lahaina Beach House and Waterbar. On a different day, we’d explore North Park, take a boxing class at BoxFit, grab food at The Seventh House, and enjoy cocktails at Part Time Lover. On the weekend, we’d do hot yoga at YogaBox, have breakfast at Bonjour Patisserie, and explore the Little Italy farmer’s market. At night, we’d head to Craft & Commerce and False Idol for dinner and drinks, then Nova SD for a girls’ night out. We’d wrap up the trip with a sunset picnic at Sunset Cliffs!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I owe so much of who I am today to my mother. She has always been my biggest supporter, encouraging me to stand my ground, pursue my passions, and make positive changes in the world. Her unwavering belief in my potential from a young age gave me the confidence to take on challenges and forge my own path. She consistently inspired me and my sister to embrace our creative sides and follow our dreams. This strong foundation of support has helped me realize the power of creativity in making a difference. It’s taught me that creativity can be used to influence and connect with others, ultimately leading me to pursue a career in marketing and content creation.
