We had the good fortune of connecting with Juan M. Ayerza and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Juan M., we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting Wipeout Coffee was a combination of my lifelong dream and a desire to merge my passions. I’ve always envisioned creating a globally recognized brand that resonates with my values and beliefs. The decision to dive into the world of coffee, particularly with a focus on organic quality, and linking it to my love for surfing, felt like the perfect way to bring my vision to life.

Starting Wipeout Coffee wasn’t just about establishing a business; it was a personal quest to learn the ins and outs of running a company and understanding the dynamics of building a brand from the ground up. I saw it as a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience, facing challenges head-on, and witnessing the growth firsthand.

The connection to my two passions, coffee, and surfing, added a distinctive touch to the venture. It allowed me to blend the rich culture of coffee with surfing as a way of life, creating a brand that not only serves exceptional coffee but also captures the essence of the lifestyle I enjoy.

Encinitas with its vibrant surf culture and commitment to sustainability was the perfect town to start Wipeout Coffee. It felt like it was meant to be.

In essence, Wipeout Coffee is a learning journey in entrepreneurship, and the synergy between my love for coffee and surfing. I’m excited to see where this venture takes me and how it resonates with others who share similar passions

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
While acknowledging that there’s still a long journey ahead, we take immense pride in stating that Wipeout Coffee has some of the highest-quality organic beans in San Diego County. The exceptional quality is unmistakable, evident with every sip. We’ve tirelessly worked to ensure that our commitment to excellence shines through, offering a distinctive and delightful coffee experience that truly sets us apart.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Poway, Little Italy and Hillcrest Farmers Markets on the weekends. Swamis beach and Windansea for sunset.
1st. Street bar to party.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
