Meet Joy Zembruski

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joy Zembruski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joy, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe that therapy is a calling — that therapists are chosen by the profession rather than the other way around. Early in my career, I realized that mental health is something I deeply believe in, and that everyone has the capacity to achieve it. I bring a high degree of emotional intelligence and purpose to my work, which allows me to support clients in creating their own unique paths toward mental wellness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Joy Zembruski, LMFT, LPCC, is a licensed marriage and family therapist and professional clinical counselor, as well as a proud UCLA Psychology alumna, fortunate to be based in the beautiful coastal towns of Southern California. Therapist Joy Z is experienced and open to working with a diverse population in a variety of settings.
Joy’s practice—TherapyJoyZ—offers client-centered mental health services, including individual, couples and teen therapy as well as psychological evaluations. TherapyJoyZ specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, addictions, and cultural adaptation, using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I feel deeply grateful to live and work in such a stimulating and inspiring environment of Laguna Beach. The beauty of the ocean naturally encourages mindfulness, and through my blog, I hope to share with you the moments and reflections I’ve gathered along our amazing coastline.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My friend Kristianne Koch Riddle is a visual artist captivated by works on paper, installations, and book arts. Common themes are personal narrative and its intersection with environment and motherhood. She received a BFA in Photography from California State University at Long Beach. She taught photography at CSUF, held numerous workshops, lectured at CSULB, received recognition from Luerzer’s Archive, Communication Arts Magazine, and was a Critical Mass finalist.
