We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Mhoon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I wanted to be connected with the world, not confined to a corporation because im a free spirit in the sense that I want to have freedom to choose my hours, and be able to be my own boss. Also, there’s no higher calling to me more than humanitarianism and music is exactly that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My background from Chicago, growing up in a black household being surrounded by the sounds of my musical culture don’t always intersect with the classical music I’m known for performing today. It took a lot of discipline which was instilled by my father and tremendous support from my mother to get me here. They were a dream team and without them, not sure what I’d be doing. My father was with me every day to insure I was practicing and practicing well and my parents always supported me becoming an artist completely.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
San Diego Wildlife park is a must, La Jolla shores to watch the sunset and hopefully catch the green flash. also the Conrad and the La Jolla playhouse for a show.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents, The Merit School of Music and the Juilliard School
