We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Frank and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was in high school, I had this dream of becoming a video producer and owning my own production company. I knew, even back then, that I’d have to make a choice after graduation on what to do with my career, and I decided there was no reason to wait. So at 15 years old, I started borrowing equipment, used whatever camera I could get my hands on, and filmed and produced every video that I could.

One thing I am very grateful for was the fact that I was able to find my passion early in childhood. I’ve always loved helping other people, and with my video production company, I am able to do that by creating captivating content for my clients and finding ways to teach their viewers about who they are, what products they have, and what they do. I am able to combine the things I love doing into a career and into a business!

What should our readers know about your business?
FrankFilms is a video production company meant to capture stories and fill our viewers with emotion! Our services start with discovering our clients’ needs and end with a top-of-the-line video that has been produced in the highest quality possible, lures viewers in, and tells a captivating story.

Looking back, it’s crazy to see the growth my business has had in the past year alone! I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing companies and even produce a TV show. It’s something I am immensely proud of. Thinking about what I have accomplished so far provides me with motivation and drive to keep going, just to see how far I can get. And to be honest, it hasn’t been super difficult for me! It’s been easy because I am driven and eager and desire to provide the best! I keep those passions alive by fueling the blazing fire.

Have you heard Newton’s laws of inertia? The first law states that an object at rest will not change unless an outside force acts on it. In business, there are slow times, times when you need rest, to take a break. But it’s HARD to get moving when you stop. You have to keep pushing, keep forcing yourself to move forward when it’s necessary! I’ve learned that there are a lot of moments like this where people give up; they forget the end goal. You really have to drill down deep and find the purpose behind what you do and discover what drives you. It’s not going to be easy. It never is. But you can get through those moments when the ball stops rolling by keeping your end goal and purpose in mind every step of the way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m always on the move and traveling around the country, but the first place that comes to my mind is my hometown – Saginaw, Michigan. With fitness being at the top of my list, we would definitely hit up the gym. We would spend an evening at a Saginaw Spirit hockey game cheering them on. For some outdoor activity, we could have a fun game of putt-putt, go-kart racing, ride Mid-Michigan’s only roller coaster, and enjoy indoor laser tag at Kokomos Fun Center! Of course, we’d need to eat, so my recommendation is a place that has amazing food, Coty’s Landing. I could list their entire menu as a favorite but you can never go wrong with their homemade soups and pizza. Those are just a few, but these businesses are what make Saginaw home!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are 2 people in my life that deserve a shoutout, the first being Freddie Wong, one of the biggest content creators that I started following about 10 years ago. Freddie was a huge inspiration for me. If you take a look at some of the videos his team produced, you’d see that they were insane! Especially to an 11-year-old. Every time I watched one of his videos I would think to myself, “I want to make videos like these”. So, I did! Freddie Wong was the very first start to what would become FrankFilms.

The second person that needs a shoutout would be my sister, Kara. She has been someone that I have always looked up to for advice. At the time, when I was 16 and really starting to get into how to run my business, she was away going to school for business and design. She was able, and has continued, to pass down her knowledge and experience to me and has helped guide me through making smart and thoughtful business decisions. She has not only helped me to develop my business but has been there for me as a friend my entire life.
