We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Rosen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I founded Collaberex after experiencing a CEO peer advisory organization and combining that experience with my membership in some pretty ineffective, popular networking groups over the years. This along with my business and law school education and my 30 years as a business owner – in law, importing & manufacturing – helped me realize that by far the number one “secret of my success” was the relationships I built over the years. I saw a void in the marketplace. There were no existing business organizations that focused on what may be the most vital ingredient to business success – authentic, impactful relationship building between business professionals.

What should our readers know about your business?
The sole mission of my company is to: >To create the most meaningful, impactful, personal relationships between others because I believe BOTH business & personal growth is enhanced through authentic, lasting relationships.
>To encourage empathy to drive those relationships.
>To create communities of support to help individuals achieve their goals.
>Show people, through my actions, I care.

If you’ve been in business you know there are always ups and downs and challenges to overcome. These challenges can be solved by being a part of a supportive community, all looking out for each other’s success. Our Collaberex community IS transformational not just transactional.

The one thing I always fall back on is to constantly remind myself that to be successful in business it’s ok to really care about others and to take action that aligns with those values.

I am so proud of the hard work we did over the last 8 years to build a community of 15 groups of people who are nice, smart, collaborative and are people who feel good by making others feel good. This has resulted in so many positive impacts on peoples businesses and lives. During the first 2 years in business so many voices told me to give up. Afterall, who would ever start a business based on building personal relationships? We ignored the negative voices and stuck with our values to become the company we are today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Tarrytown. NY 40 minutes north of New York City. Start with drinks on the hudson river at the Washington Irving Boat club, then dinner one town away in Irvington at the Red Hat also with a beautiful view of the River. Next day hike in Rockefeller State Park and lunch and beers at the Bridge View Tavern. in Sleep Hollow. Next day train into NYC head up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for world class art, then down to the Museum of Modern Art. Head down to Greenwich Village and grab a pizza at John’s Pizza on Bleeker Street. Dinner and drinks on Carmine Street at Nami Nori for the most creative & delicious sushi.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It sounds corny, but my Dad. He was a hard working entrepreneur. I went to work with him on Saturdays and loved it when he asked me to help out. He always believed in me and taught me to do what I love, to believe in myself and that life was a marathon and not a sprint. Whatever I was doing, I should put in my best efforts, stick to it and the results will come.
