We had the good fortune of connecting with Joel Woldt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My greatest joy at Heart Center Wellness is helping people to feel more Centered in their lives. There’s something really magical about meeting someone where they are, no matter what they’re feeling and helping them to feel more calm and grounded in the present.

My love for helping other people to feel centered and why I chose to start Heart Center Wellness really stems from my own experiences with anxiety and panic in my life. I started Meditation, Yoga and Centering practices out of necessity when I was desperate for a solution and thought I’d tried everything else. Although I had no idea what I was doing at first, there were moments where I could feel my first semblance of real peacefulness, of connectedness where I’m just myself and everything’s ok. It was life changing for me and I realized that being centered is what creates the space for us to identify our true values and needs so we can move forward in our lives with more meaning and purpose. Interestingly thats also where the name Heart Center Wellness comes from. This idea of living our lives with intention from the “Heart Center” which we can only truly connect with when we’re centered.

As I started looking into starting Heart Center Wellness, I realized that what brought me the most joy in my work was actually helping others to feel more calm, relaxed, and centered in their lives as well. So Heart Center Wellness became this beautiful progression where my clients and I truly support one another on our paths.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Heart Center Wellness my passion is to help beginners to cultivate healthy and sustainable practices that lead them to feeling centered in their lives. I offer Private Yoga Coaching For Beginners online and in the North County area and will be starting Gentle Yoga Classes as well. I have a really unique background with a M.S. in Clinical Exercise Physiology, Professional Health & Wellbeing Coaching Certification, 200 Hour Yoga Certification and Gentle Yoga Certification. I love being able to combine all these tools to help clients in a healthy and sustainable way.
When working one-on-one what I love the most is the ability to look really closely at the person – their skills, abilities, and intentions for their practice and tailor a plan thats meaningful and fits their needs. The ability to help create a framework and take it step by step, but also help them to center their intuition in the practice is really rewarding. Many of my clients I have worked with for many years and the growth is really mutual.
I love centering in my own life and its really an essential element to my well-being so I am most excited about starting a Gentle Stretch and Relax Yoga Class. I plan to start it online and see where it goes from there. But for me this is one of the real treats in life, just taking a bit of time, kicking back, and enjoying some time to stretch and get centered.
Lastly, I am really excited about my Youtube Meditations, I really enjoy doing them and its amazing to be able to make a difference while I sleep!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend were visiting me I would definitely want to take them down the to the Meditation and Botanical Gardens in Encinitas. I love going down the 101 and enjoying the local restaurants on the coast. I also love Hotel Del and the whole atmosphere of Coronado.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost my clients have been such an incredible inspiration to me. Their belief in me has often been greater than my own. Even more, seeing them grow, progress and continue to expand emotionally, physically spiritually at all ages is one of my greatest inspirations. In Yoga Jenni Antonicic has been an incredible inspiration – to see and hear her at work is a magical thing. Tara Brach’s Radical Compassion books really started to give me a new framework on how one could evolve and progress personally in presence and in connection with others. Wellcoaches also for teaching me how to meet people where they are and cultivate their own strengths. My family and loved ones for showing me what it means to be there for someone both in the ups and the downs.
