Meet Joannie Lee | Office Ergonomics Expert

We had the good fortune of connecting with Joannie Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joannie, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The inspiration for The Ergo Expert came directly from my work in the field. As the founder of Two Hands Wellness Events in San Diego, I spent years providing on-site chair massage at corporate offices. Over time, I began to notice a pattern: no matter the company or industry, employees were experiencing the same types of pain—tight shoulders, stiff necks, aching backs.
One day, after finishing a session, I glanced around the office and saw several employees hunched over their desks in poor posture. That moment stuck with me. I realized that while massage offered relief, there was a deeper, more lasting solution: prevention.
This realization led me to pursue a certification in ergonomics. With over 20 years of experience as a massage therapist, I understood the body’s pain patterns intimately. But I started asking myself: What if we could reduce or even prevent that pain altogether? What if I could teach people how to properly sit at their desks, position their screens, and arrange their workspaces in a way that supported their bodies instead of straining them?
That’s how The Ergo Expert was born. It’s not just about posture—it’s about empowerment. By educating employees on how to work smarter and more comfortably, we’re creating healthier workplaces from the inside out.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others is the extra attention I give to a client. I sit with them, listen to their concerns and help find a solution to their problem. I got to where I am today by having a “YES” year. In 2016, I said yes to every single request. Do we offer yoga? yes! Do you offer meditation? yes! Do you offer Office Ergonomics? yes! No, it wasn’t easy. It was a year where I expanded my services, learned how to interview, learned how to tell someone they didn’t get the job, learned how to manage multiple people in multiple locations on multiple days. I learned how to organize my books, calendar and myself. I learned how a work/life balance is so important and 24 years later, I’, still trying to honor a work/life balance. I want the world to know that with micro adjustments throughout the day infront of their computer, they can be more productive and stress free.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a huge fan of Little Italy, Ocean Beach, North Park, parts of Mission Beach and Pacific Beach lol.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to do a shoutout to Jaymie Tarshis of The Ad Expert. She is helping me educate people on the importance of ergonomics.
