We had the good fortune of connecting with Jesse Nattamai and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jesse, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We each have our own special way of showing up and serving others, and it’s easy to get wrapped up into how other brands are successful and mirroring that. Market research is vital, and so is being our authentic selves, and knowing your uniqueness is going to attract exactly who needs your support. For my own brand, conscious parenting is not a “quick fix” because we focus on the long-term relationship with our children. I also focus on how parents – mothers especially – can take really good care of themselves through meaningful self-care. Mothers appreciate our coaching sessions being about their needs while we discuss ways to elevate their parenting, which is a huge success in my book!
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What really sets me apart is that I offer virtual coaching sessions so that we are able to “meet” without leaving your home, and yet it still feels quite intimate! We have time to discuss both the difficult and the small tricky issues that arise in parenting, and you receive a customized plan with real and life-changing results. I have a compassionate and practical style of coaching, and I know the parents I work with can feel that and sincerely appreciate it. The internet is full of some hairy advise, and so parents receive guidance that is aligned with their unique values. Before the pandemic, I also offered baby and toddler classes, and hosted playgroups as well. Having a community feel in each class is so important, especially for new parents who thrive on community support. I really miss that myself and find that there is a community of parents on Instagram who are inspired by conscious parenting. We all share both our struggles and joys, and it’s a light in this difficult time for many families. If you’d like to join in, you can find me at @weaveinwonder .
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I used to vacation in Carlsbad as a kid before I moved here, and so I’m really enjoying discovering all that Southern California has to offer! My family likes to find places to explore which have lots of opportunities for nature play and picnicking. If you were to come visit me here, we’d stop at Steady State Coffee in Oceanside for their Honey Please Lattes, and then head over to Rancho Penasquitos nature preserve to play in the creek and go on a hike. We’d also check out the San Diego Botanic Gardens because we’re members, and the lush fruit trees and hydroponic gardens areas are really cool! To end the night we’d get burritos at El Pollo Maria and eat them on the beach while we watch the sunset. It’s magical..
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am the luckiest to have had many passionate mentors through my training. The RIE® organization (Resources for Infant Educarers® ) really takes the time to ensure there is ample quality support through experiential learning. I spent a year with Lee Fernandez in San Francisco assisting her Discover Your Baby + Toddler classes and that experience was life-changing because of the richness in each class and her encouragement along the way.
