We had the good fortune of connecting with Jess Gumkowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jess, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Trust and truth. We (my husband and I) have seen time and again that by being true to the message on our hearts and by utilizing that as our guide for our business, the universe always provides. By cultivating patience and steadiness through the practice of meditation and mindful living, I have revealed an unshakeable trust that everything is always working out for me. No matter the challenge in front of me, I know that I can always choose a 10,000 view of any life or business situation that leads me to endless solutions. As we remain truthful in our messaging and mechanics of our business, those who are aligned come to us with very little effort. There is no selling in truth, it is something bigger, something more real, and something that no compromise to please the masses can sway. Trust and truth, not just for business but for life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
YogiTriathlete was born in an instant while I was in a yoga pose well over a decade ago. She sat dormant for some years then served as my blog where I wrote about how triathlon and yoga brought me to the same place from very different directions. In 2016, my husband quit his corporate job to pursue his dream to become a coach and YogiTriathlete officially became a business. I went on to become a mindset coach for athletes all over the world teaching meditation and mindfulness as a means to navigate training, racing, and life. We risked everything for YogiTriathlete because the pull on our hearts to follow our greater mission to “create a better world” asked us to drop any thoughts of a “plan b”. We experienced great financial struggles in the years 2017 and 2018 but never questioned our mission – we knew that YogiTriathlete was our life’s work. We have come a long way in a short period of time. The endurance sports world has never seen anything like YogiTriathlete before, this community is trailblazing a new way of living that is allowing our athletes to achieve more with less effort and to be better humans overall. We got to where we are today, leading an international community of awake athletes through unwavering faith, belief, and action. We look back on the financial dismantlement with massive amounts of gratitude as it called us to a greater understanding of money and how to play this game of life with great skill.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Morning meditation on the beach in Carlsbad, an ocean swim then coffee and vegan treats at Steady State Roasting in Carlsbad. We’d followed that up with a trail run at Lake Calavera and post-workout smoothie bowls at Choice Juicery, then we’d finish off our day with a coastal bike ride and dinner at The Plot restaurant in Oceanside.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The YogiTriathlete community who has supported us endlessly and our team sponsors/partners – Gu Energy Labs, Squirrel’s Nut Butter, BASE Performance, One World Cacao, Amrita Health Foods, ROKA, OwnWay Apparel, Inside Tracker, and Canyon Bikes.
