We had the good fortune of connecting with Jereme Schumacher and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jereme, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
When you think of success, you might envision a straight path to your goal. Unfortunately, life is full of challenges and unknowns which can lead to unexpected turns on your path to success. There will be times when you find yourself contemplating if you should give up or keep going. Maybe your small business is not performing the way you hoped, or you’re not seeing immediate results after your healthy lifestyle change. No matter what situation you’re in, these thoughts can create doubt. Doubt may be viewed as a negative for some, but successful people look at it as a valuable opportunity to ask oneself: Why did I get started in the first place? When you set out to reach your goals, you should always make note of the reasons why you want to achieve them. This “why” stays with you throughout your journey, but it can be lost if your path isn’t an easy one. Questioning certain decisions will allow you to take a step back, see the bigger picture, and ensure that your current actions are synergistic with what you are trying to achieve. The path you take to achieve your goals doesn’t need to be a straight line, you just have to make sure you keep moving towards them. So if you ever find yourself questioning whether you should keep going or give up, remember to take a second and ask yourself: Why did I get started in the first place?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My professional career began at a fast-past sports clinic here in San Diego in 2017 shortly after graduating with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from San Diego State University. Eager to expand my clinical skill set, I pursued multiple certifications in Functional Range Conditioning, Applied Functional Sciences, and CrossFit. Equipped with a multitude of new techniques, I quickly found myself struggling to utilize these skills with my patients due to the high patient volume and short amount of 1-on-1 time I actually had with them. This lack of 1-on-1 patient care served as a catalyst to branch out on my own and partner with Bespoke Treatments to open a clinic in San Diego. Bespoke Treatments is a physical therapy and performance center that is redefining the overall physical therapy experience. By instilling a 1-on-1 treatment model I was no longer overwhelmed with multiple patients at the same time, allowing me to give my undivided attention to each patient throughout their entire treatment session. This was crucial in developing a deeper relationship with my patients to not only help them recover from an injury, but to empower them to take control of their health. Physical therapy is much more than just rehabilitating a current injury, and it requires an integrative approach to take into account multiple factors within a person’s life. Factors such as sleep hygiene, nutrition, and breathing habits, are all essential to maximize recovery and tissue healing in the body. Here at Bespoke Treatments, each treatment session takes into account all of these biometric factors to ensure you are optimizing your recovery, so you can live better, longer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever friends or family come to visit, my itinerary remains pretty standard: good beaches, good food, and great adventure. For me, the beauty of San Diego comes from the fact that you can drive 30 minutes in any direction and find yourself in a completely different community with its own unique feel. With that being said, I like to implement a North to South approach, utilizing about a day in each area to really embrace what San Diego has to offer. These areas include: North County (Carlsbad, Encinitas, Del Mar), Pacific Beach/Ocean Beach, North Park/Hillcrest, Little Italy/Gaslamp, and Coronado. Each of these areas have their own creative atmosphere which has allowed small businesses to thrive and showcase their abilities. If you ever visit one of these areas and have doubts with what food to get, I’ve never been let down by a classic California Burrito.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my wife Aubrianna. She has supported me unconditionally through all of the ups and downs, and I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without her.
