We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Huang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Being high school artists ourselves, we noticed a scarcity of creative outlets available for aspiring student artists. In response to this, we established the Association of Designers and Artists. The main objective of our organization is to offer various opportunities such as commissions, gallery showcases, fairs, volunteering opportunities, and more, allowing artists to both pursue their passions while contributing to their community.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our organization is a student-led, not-for-profit organization operating on the belief that there is a lack of resources for young artists, especially those who want to have their voices heard by the world. Our mission is to act as a bridge between these aspiring artists and the world by researching and connecting various opportunities. Furthermore, we wish to create a community that allows artists to connect with like-minded individuals.

Embarking on this endeavor was indeed a challenge, and taking that initial step required courage. However, if there is one thing that we learned along the way, it is the importance of perseverance in face of rejections.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of our favorite spot in the area would be the Diamond Jamboree shopping center. The center features a number of restaurants, dessert shops, as well as a karaoke and escape room. Around the holidays, the center also hosts celebratory events. ADA was lucky enough to pass out some of our custom red pockets during lunar new year to spread the holiday cheers. If you happen to visit the area during the holidays, we encourage you to go visit the shopping center. You might just find us around.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We dedicate this to fellow student artists who aspire to make a profound impact on the world with their art.
