We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Eastwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Social impact: how does your business help the community or the world?

Smallgoods started in the local San Diego farmer’s markets and we wholeheartedly believe in
supporting local food, local goods and local businesses. Within our La Jolla shop, we feature many of
those local makers on our shelves, in our grab & go case and on our very popular sandwiches.
Our main feature at Smallgoods is our American artisan cheeses and cured meats counter. We source
from all over the US and communicate directly with the makers about their products. The best of this
country can be found in our case and the selection changes every week.
We believe supporting the producers of our country helps everyone eat a little better and learn a
little more about our food system.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Honestly I'm just happy to be doing something I love and super grateful that our little shop worked out. I love representing American small batch products and feel really proud to help our makers. I
couldn't think for a moment about importing products when they're all right here and crafted at such
high quality.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our perfect day is renting a Pedigo Bike from Terry & Tracey in BirdRock and going for a ride. Typically, we'll go past our shop Smallgoods on La Jolla Blvd and pick up a sandwich to take along.
My husband Mike is particularly fond of the Torrey Pines Glider Port with its sweeping views and
acrobatic Gliders taking off and landing… It's a pretty cool place!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Opening a shop 3 weeks before Covid, we especially want to Shoutout our local neighborhood for all their support! Many of our customers have become friends over the time we've been open. We're
about to enter our 3rd year of business and are incredible grateful to those locals who are shopping local!
