We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Sawhne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jasmine, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The decision to start my own practice stemmed from a culmination of different experiences throughout my career. As I progressed through my training and worked in various clinical settings, I couldn’t help but notice the significant gaps in mental health care, particularly in providing individualized, patient-centered treatment.

Having served diverse communities on both the east and west coasts, I witnessed firsthand the need for more personalized approaches to mental health care. I realized that by establishing my own practice, I could prioritize the patient’s needs above all else and create a space where individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered in their journey towards mental wellness.

I integrate evidence-based practices in medication management and collaborate closely with other medical providers to ensure holistic care for my patients. By starting my own business, I could implement these approaches effectively and provide comprehensive mental health services tailored to each individual’s unique circumstances.

Ultimately, my goal was to bridge the gap in mental health care and empower individuals to achieve resiliency and mental well-being. Starting my own practice allowed me to fulfill this vision and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health challenges.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My practice is built on the foundation of providing exceptional mental health care with a patient-first approach. What sets me apart from other mental health professionals is an unwavering commitment to individualized treatment plans, evidence-based practices, and integrated care with other medical providers. For example, one person’s anxiety may look completely different from another’s; therefore my choice of therapy or medication is not a one size fits all.

I’m most proud of and excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals struggling with mental health challenges. Whether it’s through therapy, medication management, or a combination of the two, my aim is to empower each person to achieve mental wellness and thrive in all aspects of their lives. Mental health is just as important as your physical health, and I treat it as such.

Getting to where I am today in terms of a thriving business has not been easy. There were challenges along the way, including navigating the complexities of starting and running a private practice (something they do not teach you in medical school!), and establishing myself in a competitive field. However, I overcame these challenges through perseverance, dedication, and a strong support network.

One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of adaptability and resilience in the face of obstacles. Every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and learning, and by remaining flexible and open-minded, I’ve been able to overcome hurdles and build a thriving practice.

What I want the world to know about my practice is that it is more than just traditional clinic— it is a beacon of hope and support for individuals seeking to reclaim their mental well-being. It is a place of compassion, empowerment, and healing, and I am honored to be a part of each person’s journey toward a brighter, healthier future.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For an unforgettable week in LA with my best friend, we’d kick off our adventure with brunch at Republique in the heart of the city – their famous pastries are to die for! Next, our exploration would take us to Griffith Observatory for stunning city views and a hike to the Hollywood Sign. First dinner would of course be at Bavel in the Arts District for delicious Middle Eastern cuisine. Throughout the week, we’d explore iconic landmarks like The Getty Center, Santa Monica Pier and promenade, dine at Bestia, Cento and Saffys, and immerse ourselves in the city’s art scene with visits to The Broad and the Arts District’s street art. We would also explore Venice Beach, wandering along the lively boardwalk and grabbing a epic smash burger at the Win-dow at American Beauty. As the week comes to a close, we’d unwind with scenic drives along the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu, dining with ocean views at Nobu Malibu.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mentors and my family have been instrumental in shaping my journey and supporting me every step of the way. My mentors provided invaluable guidance, encouragement, and wisdom throughout my career, helping me navigate challenges and grow both personally and professionally.

Additionally, my family has been my rock, offering unwavering love, support, and understanding as I pursued my passion for mental health care. Their belief in me and their constant encouragement have fueled my determination to make a difference in the lives of others.

I am grateful for the support network that surrounds me, including colleagues, friends, and patients, who have all played a role in shaping my path and contributing to my success. This shoutout is for each and every individual who has believed in me, inspired me, and walked alongside me on this journey.
