Meet Jasmine Astorga | Photographer & Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Astorga and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am a San Diego native- love my hometown! My upbringing definitely influenced me to take the path less traveled. To be passionate, persistence, driven and be kind. My Mexican-American household impacted my commitment to do something special and be courageous.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Business | Branding | Food and Beverage focused Photographer and Videographer. I serve the Southern California and Las Vegas areas. Finding my niche and area of expertise was not easy, definitely took me a few years and some trial and error to find what I truly enjoyed in this multi diverse field.
Jumping into this business can be intimidating as many think it is “oversaturated” but I believe it’s what you offer that can set you apart. I can offer my clients both Video and Photo options, I also created Artist Job Shadow Content packages to help lash techs, tattoo artist, hair stylist etc. create more personable content and give their feed more variety, and I plan to create more Business package options soon.
Truly I enjoy the area of expertise I have chosen- from food and beverage, filming a small business video, or capturing job shadow content for a fellow artist my passion is shown in my work, something I felt lacked when I tried family portraits or filming my first wedding.
I want the world to know I just launched my business in May 2022 and I am just getting started! I have BIG plans for the future and I can’t wait to share it with you all.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I literally jumped out of my chair of excitement!!!
We will start of in San Diego…
Monday-Thursay: Mani pedis, massages and facials for sure are a must! Brunch options everywhere but for sure Walking on Water Cafe in Ocean Beach as well as Hodad’s or visiting our friends from the original Broken Yolk Cafe is always a must and we would have to stop by for sweet treats from Azucar. We both love antique shopping and some of my favorite shops are on Newport Ave. We love our crystals and my favorite shop is Crystal Visions Rock Shop. Explore Old Town one day. Surfing in Ocean Beach/Sunset Cliffs. Paddle boarding in La Jolla and stopping by Shiku and Brocktons Villa. Sun bathing and reading in Coronado or Mission Beach. Spend a day in Sea World riding Journey to Atlantis at least 6 times. Lunch or dinner at El Chignon, The Mission, Salvatore’s, Casa de Reyes, New Orleans Creole Cafe, or Hacienda Casa Blanca. Night fun at Rumba, Side Bar or Altitude Sky Lounge to enjoy the view.
Friday- Wine tasting in Temecula
Road trip to Vegas…
Definitely have to stop by Barstow Outlets for some shopping.
Truffles n’ Bacon for breakfast for sure! Later Herbs and Rye or Nora’s. Walk the strip and relax after all the fun back in SD and enjoy a fun night in downtown. Commonwealth is always a great choice!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to all the Photography and Videography instructors at the College of Southern Nevada. I attended and graduated from both programs. All the instructors were incredible and very encouraging. Extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and great to learn from. You all believed in us as creatives when sometimes our own families did not- since its not a “real career” “you can’t make money from that”. THANK YOU!!!! You’re student- Jasmine Astorga
