Meet Jake Stone | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Stone and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jake, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Freedom, peace of mind, and love for creativity. I had the hardest time trying to find what career path would benefit me the most and now I can’t imagine doing anything else. I’m truly happy about the journey so far and am incredibly optimistic about where I will go next.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Most of my paintings are done with little to no planning. Colors are chosen in the moment and the canvas may be rotated a few times after starting before concluding which side is top and bottom. I love paintings with texture and originality. Experimentation with different brushes, styles, and tools is a rewarding endeavor. I’m excited for more moments of pure joy from creating freely.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The beach is always an easy choice. The meditation gardens in Encinitas and all the restaurants in vista village are a must. San Diego has some amazing Thai restaurants throughout the different counties.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My grandmothers have been my biggest supporters since the beginning. I also have to give a huge credit to my close friends who are also artists and photographers themselves. Sean Park, Jamaica Sandoval, Crystal Peters, Edgar Carrillo, and Joe Blakely are all major positive influences and motivators.
