Meet Jake Halstead | Surf coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jake Halstead and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jake, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve grown up in the surf industry my whole life. I started my professional surfing career at age 16 and knew that I wanted to be involved with surfing for my whole life. Went through a couple bad knee injury’s and would find myself Doing surf lessons and surf coaching while i was out of the water. After months of doing it I fell in love with mentoring and teaching people how to become a better surfer. Couldn’t be happier with where I am today

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
So Beyond Surf Sd is very unique from most surf schools. What separates us is we provide service for all levels of surfs. We teach beginners to surf for the first as well as coach top USA and world wide surfers. I am lucky to have a lot of close friends in the surf industry who trust my coaching skills.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
La Jolla you can’t beat it! Most beautiful beaches in the world amazing coast line and we have a great variety of restaurants.

Start the day off with a surf lesson with beyond surf sd

Follow up with breakfast at local place called Harry’s coffee shop.

Can’t forget el Pescador fish market has some of the best seafood in the world

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Love this one! My father and grandfather have been huge inspirations for me to provide for my family and be the best version of myself.
