We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Kay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, how has your background shaped the person you are today?

Hi there, thank you for the warm welcome, and it’s a pleasure to be here. My background played a significant role in shaping the person I am today. My family was deeply dedicated to starting and running a family business, and I was fortunate to be immersed in an environment that epitomized hard work and determination.
From an early age, I found myself surrounded by the bustling atmosphere of entrepreneurship. Those formative years instilled in me invaluable lessons about the sheer importance of perseverance and unwavering dedication. Witnessing the relentless efforts my family put into our business, I came to a profound understanding that success in the world of business goes beyond just having a great idea. It demands a profound commitment and the willingness to go the extra mile.
This background has not only given me a strong work ethic but also a deep appreciation for the art of photography. It has taught me that every shot, every project, and every client deserves that same level of dedication and commitment, just as I witnessed in my family’s business.
So, in a way, my journey in photography is a reflection of the values and lessons I imbibed from my background. It’s about hard work, dedication, and going that extra mile to capture those moments that matter most to people.
I hope this glimpse into my background sheds some light on the person I am today and how it influences my work as both a photographer and an entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

Absolutely, let’s dive into it. Professionally, I stay quite busy with my photography business. It’s a passion that has become my full-time endeavor, and I find immense joy in every aspect of it. My days are filled with capturing meaningful moments for my clients, whether it’s weddings or portraits. I thrive in the creative process, from planning and setting up shots to post-production and delivering the final product.
In addition to the artistic side of things, I’m also deeply involved in the business aspects of photography. This includes managing client relationships, marketing my services, and ensuring the smooth operation of my studio. It’s a delicate balance between the creative and business sides, but its’ a challenge I relish.
Furthermore, I’m always eager to expand my skill set and stay up-to-date with the lates photography techniques and trends. This keeps me engaged in ongoing learning and improvement, which is crucial in such a dynamic field.
Overall, what keeps me professionally occupied is that art of photography and the rewarding journey of running my own photography business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

If I had a friend that decided to pay me a visit for a week, we’d kick off our adventure with an all-out Disney extravaganza at Disneyland! I mean who can resist a dose of that enchanting Disney magic? We’d channel our inner kids, going wild on the rides and indulging in all the iconic snacks – churros, here we come!
After a day of non-stop laughter and nostalgia, we’d switch gears and head to the beach for some serious sun-soaking and relaxation. Picture sandy toes, beachy tunes, and the sweet smell of salty air – the perfect way to unwind.
Now, for a dose of retail therapy, we’d hit up South Coast Plaza, a shopaholic’s dream! It’s got everything from high end luxury to quirky boutiques, catering to our shopping whim.
Now, when it comes to satisfying our taste buds, we’d make a beeline for two local gems. First up, El Farolito, a cozy little Mexican restaurant that’s practically legendary for its mouthwatering carnitas. And then there’s, Fish in a Bottle, our go-to spot for some seriously fresh and delightful sushi.
So, if you ever swing by, get ready for a week filled with laughter, thrilling rides, beachy vibes, shopping sprees, and unforgettable dining – its going to be a blast!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I owe a big shoutout to the incredible people who have been the wind beneath my wings on this journey. My family, the original champions of hard work and business smarts, laid the foundation for my entrepreneurial spirit. They showed me that success takes dedication and a solid work ethic and I carry those lessons with me every day as I pursue my passion for photography,
And then there’s my amazing husband, who’s not just my life partner but also my right-hand man in capturing those precious moments. He’s there with me through the chaos of weddings, offering a calming presence, and when challenges arise, his creative problem solving skills are like magic.
In the end, it’s the combined support and inspiration from my family and my husband that have made my photography venture a reality. They’ve taught me that success is a team effort, and I’m incredibly grateful for their unwavering support and love.
