We had the good fortune of connecting with Hot ‘n’ Tedious Films and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hot ‘n’ Tedious, what do you attribute your success to?
For us, it’s easy- making art we are proud of. As a group of young 20 somethings we are just diving into this big world, and while being “rich and famous” would be a perk none of us would turn down, that’s all it would be; a perk. We all have jobs outside of this business, because we know it isn’t easy to “make it” in Hollywood; however, I think we all equally agree that being able to make art we love, with the people we love equates to success in our eyes.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our whole goal with Hot ‘n’ Tedious is to create art that resonates with and tells the stories of people our age, as well as develop a welcoming creative environment where relevant comedic content can flourish. I think what sets us apart from other production companies is that we are all close friends, and have been making films together since we were kids. Most of us went to school together and have made make-shift movies in class, or just at each other’s houses all the way back in middle school. So that comfortability and familiarity on set makes for a more fluid experience. We don’t want to say it has been easy, because making films is mind-numbingly hard, but we will say that having a team like we do makes things much easier than doing anything on your own. We have learned a lot along the way, making two short films, two upcoming feature films, and producing a third, and we like to think that our film catalog thus far has served as our film school. So all of the on set effort has been trial and error, understanding the technical aspects of the set like running it efficiently, lighting it properly, and getting the right shots. Our brand revolves around creating relatable films that tell stories of the younger generation, all while appealing to the masses. Hot ‘n’ Tedious is also all about friendship, as mentioned before, we are all lifelong childhood friends, so this transition into a full fledged production company has been beyond unique and has made us much stronger as a group. So much so it bleeds into our art, as many of our films carry friendship as a theme throughout.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
Having a group as large as ours, there are so many people to thank. Our parents first and foremost have always given us their support, time, and even their acting skills to be a part of our films. We also have great support in Matt Tinkham, an executive producer who really believes in the potential of our company. We really are lucky to be surrounded by friends and family who believe in this as much as we do.
