We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Potter and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I have had to make in my life was to retire from my nearly 20-year career as a homicide and s*x crimes detective in a large-scale police department. This decision was particularly challenging because my career was not just a job to me; it was my passion and my purpose. I specialized in crimes relating to women and children, and I dedicated myself to helping others, giving hope, and being a source of support and encouragement.

However, after spending so many years in such a demanding career, being on call 24/7, I realized that it was taking a toll on my physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. I recognized the importance of taking care of myself and reestablishing a sense of balance in my life. It was crucial for me to step away and allow myself the time to recharge and reconnect with those I love and care for.

During my time off, I wanted to remind myself that there is still good in people. It was important for me to surround myself with positivity and regain a sense of hope and optimism. Additionally, health and fitness have always been a passion of mine. In fact, I served as the lead fitness specialist for the department, which was incredibly rewarding. I love having the opportunity to connect with my colleagues and provide them with a safe and non-judgmental space for health and fitness advice.

While retiring from my career as a detective was a difficult decision, I have come to realize that my purpose extends beyond law enforcement, and as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and Functional Blood Chemistry Specialist (FBCS), I am committed to taking a holistic approach to empower individuals in their journey toward optimal health and wellness.

In my practice, I focus on looking at the whole body and addressing the interconnectedness of various factors that influence well-being. This includes nutrition, lifestyle practices, targeted supplementation, stress management, and optimizing sleep. By addressing these elements, I strive to empower individuals to feel strong, confident, and in control of their health.

While retiring from law enforcement was challenging, it has given me the opportunity to continue making a positive impact on people’s lives. I am grateful for this new path.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I am dedicated to empowering individuals to take control of their health, feel their best, and live vibrant, fulfilling lives. Ultimately, my brand and story are rooted in my commitment to making a positive impact on people’s lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were to visit me here in The Woodlands, I would ensure she experience the highlights of my favorite spots and activities. We would start our day with a my favorite a.m. cocktail, coffee, at Blue Door Coffee on the Waterway, I love this space and it’s cozy atmosphere. After fueling up with caffeine, perhaps a walk around The Waterway, soaking up the sun and peaceful views, accompanied of course, by my two adorable Boxers, Ernie and Sailor.

If the visit is over a weekend, brunch is a must! We would head to a local favorite like Common Bond Cafe, indulging in the delicious pastries.

Being a fitness enthusiast, I would definitely take my friend to my favorite local gym for a workout session, before exploring the local shops on Market Street, which with my girlfriends, is a must-do. Following some much need retail therapy, we would being our search for the perfect charcuterie board, likely from Hearsay.

No visit would be complete without happy hour, and SixtyVines would be our go-to spot. As evening approaches, we would cop a squat on some green space at one of the outdoor concert venues, soaking up the sounds of live music and the energy of everyone around us.

Since moving to TX a little over 2 years ago, I have been incredibly fortunate to meet some extraordinary core girlfriends, it would be an absolute must for me to introduce her to these amazing individuals, creating an opportunity for some much needed girl time and new memories.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are two individuals who have played a significant role in shaping who I am today: my dad (Robert) and my ex-husband, Steve. They both deserve a shoutout and recognition for their unwavering support, belief in me, and continuous encouragement.

My dad has always been my biggest supporter, he’s my rock and I love and value him very much. My ex-husband, Steve, Despite the changes in our relationship, he has always and continues to belief in me, he has been a pillar of support, encouraging me and reminding me of my worth and potential.

I’m very lucky to have these two great men in my life.
