Meet Heather Cullen-Martinez | LUV Nutrition Co-Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Cullen-Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We saw a need in the community, and we knew we could provide it. Healthy “fast food” options, healthy energy options, and an amazing LUV’ing vibe. Not only will you feel amazing from our drinks, but you will feel amazing from the energy of our space.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our business is founded on our love for people. Creating healthy options for the community, and a safe space to come hang and meet like minded people. Our journey here has been long. It has been a dream of ours to open this space, and we ended up signing a lease during lockdown. From my husband being laid off, to finding out we were pregnant with our second, to the city shutting down their permit department during build out, to massive unexpected plumbing issues. We have been through a lot, and through it all we have learned SO MUCH. Not just about build out, our industry and business, but about each other. Opening a business with your spouse can be challenging, but also incredibly amazing. We are closer than we have ever been, I get to work with my best friend every day to grow our business, our family and our future. Truly grateful. We are here to spread love (LUV) and that starts with US.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely go down to the beach and then hit up Que Vida off Beach and Adams for some lunch. Amazing and family owned as well. We would catch a workout at WellBee Bootcamp off Brookhurst & Hamilton or our neighbors DNA Fit Bootcamp, and then head to LUV after for a post workout smoothie. Grab some meals from Healthy Meals Kitchen and head to Tewinkle Park with our kids to burn off some energy. Head down to Laguna Beach one day, hit the playground, walk around and eat at Wild Taco. You can tell we love being active and eating LOL.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Our friends and family have played a huge role in our success. From supporting our ideas, to watching our kids when we need help, it truly takes a village. Our customers over the years have also been amazing, following us when we were mobile, to now bringing their friends, family and coworkers in to the store. And lastly, small business owners we have collaborated with have been so crucial. Collaboration over competition. We have met some truly amazing biz owners on our journey, and continue to as we network and grow.
