We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Butler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heather, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The single most important decision that contributed to my success, other than deciding to work for myself, was to be highly selective in choosing the types of businesses I would collaborate with. I made a conscious choice to align my work with brands and companies that shared my ethos and values. This decision revolved around several key principles, such as working with organizations that focus on the development of innovative green technology, bettering humanity or the planet, or are minority or female-owned.

By maintaining a strict filter for ethical compatibility, I ensured that my professional endeavors were not only financially rewarding but also personally fulfilling. This approach allowed me to establish strong boundaries and cultivate mutually beneficial partnerships with businesses that were genuinely aligned with my vision and goals. As a result, I was able to contribute to their success while furthering my own, creating a meaningful and successful career path that is deeply rooted in my values and principles.

What should our readers know about your business?
What sets me apart and what I’m most proud of is the opportunity to partner with some of the brightest minds in innovation, and to be at the forefront of ushering in new technology that shapes the future of multiple industries, particularly in the fields of AI and robotics.

Getting to where I am today in the business world has been a journey filled with both challenges and successes. It hasn’t been easy, and there have been numerous ups and downs. However, a significant part of my success can be attributed to networking and building solid connections. These connections have opened doors, provided support, and facilitated collaborations that have propelled my business forward. Building and growing my business during the challenging times of COVID-19 was especially difficult, but it also taught me resilience and adaptability.

The lessons I’ve learned along the way are invaluable. First and foremost, I’ve learned the importance of prioritizing “people over profit.” Building strong relationships with good and smart individuals has been instrumental in my journey. I’ve also learned the power of asking for what you want and believing in the value you bring to the table. Moreover, I’ve come to understand that business, like life, has its ups and downs, and it’s crucial to ride the wave with unwavering determination. If things go down, I firmly believe they will go back up again.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that we are resilient and steadfast because we are not only good at what we do but also good people. We hold ethical morals and values as our backbone, guiding our decisions and actions. Our commitment to these principles is what keeps us moving forward, ensuring that we make a positive impact on the world while achieving success in our business endeavors.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would recommend we start with brunch at the Gaslamp Breakfast Company and get their flight of waffles and pancakes, then spend the day touring the harbor, riding the Horn Blower, and taking a tour of the USS Midway Museum or visiting Seaport Village for shopping. Then grab tacos at Luche Libre in North Park and walking around a bit there, checking out the thrift stores and boutiques. Next drinks and apps at Topsail by their glass fire pits, right on the water. Sunset dinner at Seneca with rooftop views of the harbor and the most amazing Italian food. Somewhere in the visit we’d have to mix in a Wave FC game and a trip to Balboa Park for the museums and the zoo. Lastly with it being the holiday season, there are so many unique things happening in San Diego including the Winter Wonderland at Petco Park and the Holiday Light Parade in the harbor with all of the light-decorated boats and yachts.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the book “People Over Profit” by Dale Partridge. This book has had a significant impact on my journey and has played a crucial role in shaping my perspective on business and success. It has provided me with valuable insights and guidance on the importance of prioritizing people and ethics over mere financial gain.

Partridge’s dedication to promoting ethical and people-centered business practices has been a source of inspiration for me. His work has encouraged me to focus on building meaningful and sustainable relationships in my professional life and to always place the well-being of individuals and communities at the forefront of my business endeavors. “People Over Profit” deserves credit and recognition for helping me navigate my path to success with a strong ethical compass and a commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
