We had the good fortune of connecting with Haylee LaCroix and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haylee, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from a small town in Vermont, received my degree in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Vermont, and moved to San Diego in 2011.  I was raised to be honest, see everyone as equals, work hard, and trust the process. I feel fortunate to have been brought up with the work ethic of a blue-collar family from the East Coast and the attitude to never give up, that came from both of my parents. This tenacity has been my driving force through all of the ups and downs that come with life and entrepreneurship.

I’ve had a major focus on health and wellness from a young age.  It began with a need to be gluten free before anyone even knew what that was.  From there I started on a road of helping myself and others feel healthy, happy, and get back to themselves.  I’ve gotten to spend a ton of time exploring different healing modalities from some amazing healers from a variety of backgrounds.  This range has really helped me become the person and the practitioner that I am today.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Yes, thank you. I do a few things that all tie into each other. I’m a practicing Medical Intuitive, a Ceremonialist, and an Herbalist. I am also training in the practice of Applied Shamanism, which is a more client-empowered way of working with shamanic methods and where the client is more of an active participant in the healing process.

With Medical Intuition I work directly with clients to help identify the cause of their challenges, physically, mentally, and spiritually speaking. I take a look at beliefs that are at the root cause of physical ailments and give personalized recommendations to assist in the healing process. Through ceremony we bring back people’s connection to themselves, to the earth, community and to spirit. Herbalism is a sensitive practice that helps people on both physical and energetic levels. I am trained as a Vitalist Herbalist, which looks at the patient within the lense of Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine as well as medical astrology to understand the energetics of the patient and the disease pattern. All three tie into each other through love, consciousness, and presence. Ultimately, I integrate many forms of alternative medicine practices to connect my client back to their true essence.

For me, my life is my business and my business is my life. In order for me to fully and completely show up for others, I have to be embodied with this in myself. I have gone through many issues along my path, mostly with my own physical challenges around food and eating and have learned a lot about various healing methods as my own personal life has unfolded.

The path to reconnecting to who I “knew I could be” has been quite the teacher throughout the years. I finally feel like I’ve gotten to this inner space within myself that I have been searching for relentlessly, and now feel equipped with knowledge, wisdom and personal experience to guide others on their paths back to themselves. It has become clear to me that this is what I am here to do.

I believe the challenges we face are there for us to grow and to deepen in one way or another and in that way are such a beautiful aspect of being human. There are always opportunities in whatever life throws at us, it’s how we navigate them that makes the difference. I utilize this concept in my practice as well, to help inspire and uplift those who are moving through challenging times with the various elements of their health.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When I have visitors, I generally bring them to food spots- Birdseye Kitchen, Haggos Tacos, GoodonYa, the plot and Campfire Restaurant, are my favorites in North County. I like to take them on hikes- Torrey Pines, and Calavera (a small volcano and easy hike). We obviously spend time at the beach and parks and get coffee at Steady State in Carlsbad. I would bring them to the Vista, Leucadia and Carlsbad Farmers markets for the food, energy and connections with good people. I would also take them indoor rock climbing at Vital in Oceanside.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shoutout to a mentor of mine that has been a continuous guide on my path and her name is Rosemary Gladstar. Because of her, I am walking the current path of healing through connection to the earth, leading women’s circles, teaching, diving deeper into shamanic studies and she gave me the confidence that someone who is walking a different path than the norm can make a change for humanity at large.
