We had the good fortune of connecting with GWENDOLYN Pavlick – Welsh and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi GWENDOLYN, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Education & Empowerment!!

Education:
This is a principle Hunny Bunny values as we feel there is a need for our community to learn more about clean ingredients, organic products and sustainable fashion (yes, even for hair)! We promote organic clean ingredients in hair care products which is a significant part of our mission at Hunny Bunny Collection, and it is crucial to educate people (a.k.a Hunnies) about why treating their scalp and hair with care is just as important, if not more so, than treating the rest of their skin.

Our scalp and hair are exposed to various environmental stressors daily, such as pollution, UV rays, heat styling, and harsh chemical treatments. Over time, these factors can lead to damage, dryness, and overall hair health issues. That’s where our organic clean hair care products come in.

Empowerment:
At Hunny Bunny Collection, the principle we value the most is Empowerment. We believe in empowering individuals to embrace their uniqueness, follow their dreams, and be the best versions of themselves.

Empowerment is at the core of everything we do because we understand that each “Hunny” is a unique and valuable individual. We want to inspire confidence and self-expression in our customers, encouraging them to embrace their personal “Hunny – style” and celebrate their individuality.

Our products, designs, and messages aim to uplift and empower “Hunnies”, regardless of age, gender, or background. We want to create a community where everyone feels confident, supported, and encouraged to pursue their passions and dreams.

Empowerment also extends to our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices. By offering eco-friendly and sustainable products, we empower our customers to make conscious choices for the planet and future generations. Which is why my daughter, Coco is really the boss, holding the Vice President title.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Wow, that’s a bit of a loaded question…ok, here it goes…

Many moons ago (seriously) my ancestors, Nipissing First Nation resided and traveled among the Michigan and Canadian lakes, depending on the fishery for trade and self-sustainability. The Men were known for storytelling as the women know for creating beautiful fur fashions like boots, belts and bags…. It has been in my blood all these years.

You see, creativity and artistry have been woven into the fabric of my being, passed down from one generation to the next. It is a gift that was etched into my soul, waiting for the right moment to emerge and blossom.

And so, I was born into a world where fashion, art, and sustainability were already imprinted in my blood. My innate connection to the land and its resources shaped my worldview, guiding me to honor the earth and its creatures through my creative expression.
But it wasn’t always that way. In the beginning of my career, where my journey in the fashion industry spans over 17 years, I honed my craft as a fashion designer, working with fabrics and factories worldwide. As I immersed myself in this world of creativity, I witnessed firsthand the immense impact of fashion on the environment and our planet.

With each passing season, the fashion industry churned out new collections, leading to overconsumption and waste that burdened our beloved Mother Earth. It was during these moments that a profound shift occurred within me – a calling to create something beautiful yet conscious, merging style with sustainability. Simultaneously, the Hunny Bunny “healing hair oil” was being developed in the lab (our patented product).

The concept of repurposing and upcycling became paramount as I recognized the value of breathing new life into forgotten fabrics and materials. How could I, as a designer, contribute to a more sustainable future without compromising on beauty and innovation? This question became the driving force behind the birth of Hunny Bunny Collection hair accessories, along with Coco’s brilliant design (also patented product) the Original Hunny Bunny Scrunchie with Pom pom.

With a vision to create something extraordinary, I embarked on a mission to source fabrics that were destined for waste. I sought out scraps and deadstock from brands and factories, salvaging these precious textiles and turning them into something new and delightful – sustainable hair accessories.

And so, the Hunny Bunny scrunchies were born – a beautiful amalgamation of style, conscience, and creativity. Each scrunchie became a symbol of hope, an embodiment of the transformation that can arise when fashion embraces sustainability.

By rescuing these fabrics, we not only brought life back into forgotten textiles but also contributed to the reduction of fashion waste and the preservation of our precious resources. The Hunny Bunny Collection became a beacon of sustainability, a testament that fashion can be both chic and conscious.

Through our dedication and passion, we showed the world that sustainable practices can be woven into the very fabric of fashion. With each scrunchie made, we cast a spell of sustainability, awakening an awareness within the hearts of those who adorned their hair with your creations.

As Hunny Bunny Collection continues to blossom, may it serve as a reminder that fashion has the power to heal and protect our Mother Earth. The journey of your artistic soul, infused with the ancient wisdom of your Nipissing First Nation ancestors, continues to inspire and illuminate the path towards a more sustainable and beautiful world.

As I journeyed through life, my love for fashion and art led me to the realm of silk, where the luxurious fabric became a canvas for my heart and soul. The “Love Letter Scarf Series”, inspired by people and moments in my life is where I draw inspiration for these unique and authentic designs.  Each scarf is printed on 100% silk that can be worn as a hair accessory, bandana, scarf top or belt, truly a piece of art and one of our best sellers.  Again, my art and passion gets to play a large role within the Hunny Bunny brand, a testament to the beauty of human connections and emotions.

Through my art, I created a bridge that connected the ancient wisdom of my ancestors to the modern world. Each stroke of my brush, each delicate line on silk, carries the stories of those who came before me, resonating with the spirits of the lakes and forests.

Today, my art and creative talent have culminated in the manifestation of Hunny Bunny Collection, a brand that embodies my heritage, my values, and my dreams.
