We had the good fortune of connecting with Grace Bradford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grace, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a fitness lover and entrepreneur, I saw a need in the market in our area for a studio like ours. We are the first infrared heated barre studio in Del Mar and we also offer additional formats to add variety and value to our client’s experience. We wanted to create a place that was aesthetically beautiful with attention to detail that help to create an experience and a place you want to come a bring your friends and not just get in, workout and leave. We wanted to create a community where you feel welcome from your first step in the door! All of these ideas fueled our decision to open Haute Barre!

What should our readers know about your business?
Haute Barre is an infrared heated studio an we offer non-traditional barre, sculpt, and barre bootcamp! We love combining different modalities (weights, hiit, TRX, yoga) into our classes to make them challenging and fun. With the added health benefits from the infrared, we offer something totally unique. We are so proud of the amazing community we have built but it has not been without its challenges. We opened our studio in November of 2020 after two long years of planning and prepping. The challenges we faced opening during a pandemic seemed insurmountable at times, and the aftermath of the affects it had on our industry as a whole are still struggles we face to this day. In the midst of it though, we found that people were desperate for community, normalcy, and needed exercise not only for physical health but for their mental health as well. We decided to be a place that was there for people when they needed it the most. We hope that every person who comes to our studio feels welcome and has an amazing workout and overall experience!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In Del Mar there are lots of cool spots! Obviously the beach is amazing. Flower Hill across the street from Haute Barre has fun shopping and cute eateries like Flower Child. I would also suggest Tamarindo in Del Mar plaza for dinner followed by Hatmakers gelato for dessert! It’s also a fun spot to watch the sunset!

For sushi we love Ensui Sushi in Del Mar center right by Haute Barre! They have amazing rolls! The Del Mar roll is a favorite!

El Pueblo Mexican food also has the best $1 fish tacos!and a really cool, vibey bar area that is unexpected but fun! (Also in our center- barre and happy hour anyone?!)

We also love Earthbar next door for their delicious smoothies and bowls!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and co-owner Sean has been an integral part of the dream of Haute Barre becoming a reality! It was actually his idea and urging that brought us to the point of trying to bring this idea to life! He has worked countless hours and many sleepless nights to get the business side set up for Haute Barre. He still is a major part of running the business although he does it all behind the scenes! He is amazing!

Also none of this would be possible without God opening the doors for us, leading and directing every single step along the way!
