We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?

I decided to create my company to be responsible and in charge of interesting and rewarding projects. The driving force behind my work is pleasure, passion and being able to be surrounded by people at work who share the same values as me. I created this company to be able to fully flourish in the projects for which I am responsible.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
For more than 15 years I worked as a freelancer for different channels, media, production in the fields of sport, fashion and television. At the same time, I began to become a shooting trainer on cinema cameras, color and edit software. Gradually, I became a consultant to offer my services for the development of coherent workflows in production chains.

The idea of creating my own company came to me almost from the start of my career. But before that I wanted to learn from several professional experiences and gain as much experience as possible.

When I created my company in the south of France, I decided to offer my services with high quality ARRI camera equipment. I had to invest nearly €200,000 in 5 years. This choice of equipment was strategic because no one offered this in my region. The market being quite closed, I had to be able to offer something different.

The use of this equipment allowed me to offer my services for the production of quality music videos, television shows and corporate films. Also to expand my network with French and foreign film productions wishing to rent this type of equipment.
The primary motivation for all this is ultimately to be able to create and produce content with quality equipment and people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our region is incredible. We could drive along the coast in a convertible car between Cannes and Saint Tropez to see magnificent film landscapes. Then stop for lunch with the family in a seaside restaurant. In the evening we would go see an open-air concert with a few friends. During the week we could also go walking in the mountains or wakeboard in the lake or at sea. This may seem cliché but it happens like that. The French Riviera in summer is incredible.

This is why many film, advertising and music video productions come to shoot between April and October.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think that the evolution of my career was marked by meeting several people who accompanied, trained and helped me. Work and professional meetings have of course shaped me. I would like to thank all these people. The most important person is without a doubt my wife “Pascaline”. She was able to accompany me throughout my journey by supporting me and accepting the constraints of my job. Without them I probably would not have arrived at the place I am.
