Meet Geneva Cerrato | Certified Life and Mindset Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Geneva Cerrato and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Geneva, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business during the pandemic. I was in my late twenties, recently given birth to my third child, and I was feeling more and more anxious. I always struggled with anxiety, was always very passive, and didn’t feel like I had much purpose outside of being a mom. My business really started and stemmed from my anxiety. I began blogging and sharing about anxiety and motherhood. From there I began sharing old wounds that I was still healing from and my story really resonated with other people. From there I began a podcast and eventually I realized that I wanted to help other women and that it was possible to monetize what I was doing. The more I shared my story and helped others, the more I healed, and everything grew from there. I became certified in life and mindset coaching in 2020 and began my coaching business that summer.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe what sets me apart is that I’ve been exactly through what I help my clients with. I was the passive, people pleaser. I was the woman who felt anxious and out of control. I’ve been through abuse and trauma. I lacked confidence, didn’t advocate for myself. And in starting my business and finding my voice I became someone new. I healed, I grew confident, I advocate for myself. And I love that I am now setting the example for other women and my own children of what it means to go after what you want and take up space. And that it’s possible to be self made and create emotional security for yourself as a woman.
It was never easy. It still isn’t.
Entrepreneurship is about learning to navigate the highs and lows. They are always there.
I am a huge proponent of self trust and having your own back. I believe if you have that nothing can stop you.
I’ve learned that thinking long term and always coming back to your vision and your why is key. Why do you do the work you do? What’s the bigger picture? If you can come back to that – you will make it through the hard times.
I want the world to know and other women to know that no matter what you go through you always have the choice of who you are going to be. How you are going to show up, take action and lead yourself. You don’t have to let the past dictate your future.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am pretty low key. I love Cronies. Ha ha. Their thirsty strips and a cold beer are the best. I am all about the food. There is an incredible pizza place in LA called Masa. We would definitely go there. We would also go to Disneyland. My family and I are there most weekends. We would make a trip to the beach, if it’s baseball season we are going to an Angels game. There is so much to do in southern California, that’s why I love living here.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shoutout my friend and mentor Robyn MacNeill. She is also a coach. She was one of the first people that really believed in me and encouraged me to keep going and I made my first 5 figures in business due to her mentorship.
