We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Valentin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe long term risks and short term risks are polar opposites. If the only thing standing in my way is a short term risk, then I don’t pay any attention to it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My name is Gabriel Valentin creator and writer of Digital Lizards of Doom. Digital Lizards of Doom (DLOD for short) is a multi media experience that uses comics, games, music and film to celebrate pop-culture and build an ongoing world of exciting adventures! In brief, I have secured a publishing deal with the original founders of IDW Publishing’s new publishing venture Clover Press! We announced the DLOD graphic novel at the end of the summer and we had an awesome 2,000 pre-orders! There is chit chat about a card game, based on the world of DLOD and I think right now I’m pretty excited about that. Although I’m about to wrap up the final draft of book three and it might be my favorite thing I have ever written. So that’s keeping me pretty stoked right now! As far as if it was hard or not… ummm… hell yeah it’s hard! It’s virtually impossible. But you can’t think about that, you gotta keep focused on crushing goals one by one. The second you start worrying out about the work load or future too much, you are going to have a major freak out sesh. As far as what I want to world to know about DLOD? Nothing really, I just want them to know about it. It has something for everyone. DLOD is like a loyal dog from a 1960’s kid’s show, you might think you are too busy for it, you might not have the money to feed it, but whenever you are feeling down and you need the best pick me life has to offer… DLOD will be there waiting for you! With lovely open paws!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In San Diego we go get some breakfast pizza at coin-op Temecula, then we would go get tacos from city tacos in La Mesa and then we would finish off the night at Peohe’s on Coronado island. Perfect day!
