We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriel Lucero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriel, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I always try to challenge myself in every way possible whatever it is, easy or hard I’m up for it. Staying ahead of the curve with whats going on in the tech, wireless industry! Also, preparing myself mentally each day has been a huge success, mainly by listening to motivational podcasts everyday has helped & allowed me to get rid of any stress or worries I may have and mentally prepare myself to have a great days at work running my business. I try to structure my time and plan my day according to the scheduled repairs for the day. Getting back to emails, phone calls, and ordering any new product I may need for the upcoming week are things to help prepare for whats to come. I lose a lot of sleep, but I love what I do so I feel like I can I get 1 hour of sleep and I’m ready to get back on it!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve alway’s dreamed of owning my own business, and always have a love for technology. So I knew it would be something to do with electronics. I’ve been in the wireless industry since I was able to get my first job. That being said I started my own family and wanted to make more money and spend more time with them so December 2018, G-Phixit Mobile Phone Repair started out of my apartment. Finally being able to put my knowledge I’ve gained over the past 10+ years to my own use and not working on someone’s else’s time. I’ve been a business owner for over 2 years. I specialize in mobile phone repairs but we offer much more services than just that! I’d like to say that since I started G-Phixit its has been a blessing being able to work for myself and being able to be there for my family a lot more. Being able to start a whole business from scratch, is not easy in this day an age. There was and still is a lot of late nights and early mornings but its was completely on my own time and schedule! Building a clientele, building a recognizable, trusted brand never comes easy which is why I have tried my best to focus on every single repair and customer like it would be my last. More importantly treat them as I would like to be treated if I was a customer! Biggest challenges to overcome would be dropping that paycheck I was accustomed to and not being 100% sure how your weeks going to look and being able to pay your bills and support a family, but through very focused community brand recognition and making sure every customer we serve is happy and best business “Word Of Mouth” we have grown month over month and growing and currently looking at expanded our brand! One lesson I’ve learned along the way would be inventory management. When I first started I didn’t have a clear concise plan for ordering parts and would just kind of order what I needed and sometimes at the worst times but through the first couple years of business I’ve been able to get a system down and make sure I keep everything I need in stock and better forecasting when it comes to holidays and promotions for specific events coming up.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Sunny San Diego, is the place to be. The food, weather, beaches, and overall the wonderful atmosphere this city provides will almost never disappoint you. Who doesn’t love some good wings, Dirty Birds wins it for me. Dirty Birds just located in Pacific Beach, is by far my favorite wing spot. The dirty ranch wings, with the loaded tots and a nice cold beer with the cool breeze from the beach sounds like a good day of touring the city to me. Since Ive moved from Denver the beach has to be my go to, La Jolla just minutes from PB is a great touring spot to visit. La Jolla cove, you’d be amazed at how close you could see the seals. Mt. Soledad National Veterans Memorial, where they honor veterans from the Revolutionary War to present time has a breathtaking view, covers an extensive history of those who have sacrificed for us, and overall allows you to soak in the view and weather San Diego has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
One shout out I would like to give out would be to my girlfriend Monea Jimenez. She has been there for me since day one! Literally from the day I was tired of clocking in and out for various mobile companies (Sprint, AT&T & Verizon). She gave me the strength and motivation to feel 100& confident to take the leap and go for my dreams of being my own boss! We have 4 kids together and I know getting the business going was a struggle from not missing any repairs, staying up late finishing repairs, learning new material, cancelling date nights due to back log of repairs on my shelf. She completely gave in and sacrificed our relationship and some family time to let me focus on getting our family to a better life! She deserve’s a lot more recognition and thank you than I can even express! Thank You Love!
