Meet Gabby Jimmerson | Couples & Sex Therapist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabby Jimmerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabby, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was really about freedom. Financial freedom, yes, but also the freedom to design a life that fits my values. I wanted to be able to set my own schedule, take time with my daughter without asking for permission, and build a career that supports both my family and my passion. I absolutely love couples and sex therapy, and having my own practice gives me the space to show up authentically for my clients while also serving the community in a way that feels true to who I am. It’s been both empowering and deeply rewarding to create something that works for the people I help and for my own family

What should our readers know about your business?
I truly love my work. Supporting couples in rewriting their love legacy has such a far-reaching impact because it doesn’t just change their relationship, it touches their kids, and their kids’ kids, and so on. Learning how to love well isn’t just good for the couple, it’s good for the whole family system and the entire community. On the sex therapy side, I’ve always been drawn to the so-called ‘pearl clutching’ topics. I love helping couples get comfortable talking about intimacy and creating meaningful sexual connection because those conversations are where real healing and joy can begin.
One of the things I’m most proud of is becoming a trusted resource for both couples and fellow clinicians in Orange County. It’s been humbling to see my practice grow as more people seek out this work and share my others.
Of course, the journey hasn’t been easy. Challenging my own money mindset and realizing I could do this work I love and also support my family has been a game changer. And like so many working moms, I wrestle with guilt. There are days when I’m crushed that I couldn’t pick up my daughter from school due to work and other days that I’m chomping at the bit to spend more time in my office, but building my own practice has given me the ability to ebb and flow with my family’s needs .
If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s that therapy doesn’t have to feel clinical or intimidating. Yes, I bring expertise in relationships and sexuality, but I’m also a person just like you! My goal is always to create a space that feels safe, approachable, and real where people can buy into their process and start building the relationships they truly want.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit, the week would definitely center around food and relaxation, two things that are super easy to access around here. I’d be a terrible friend if I didn’t take her to both Chaupain Bakery and Brussels Bistro on Del Mar. For another life changing meal, I’d take her up to Irvine for Beijing Noodle House, which seriously has the best noodles I’ve ever tasted.
No trip would be complete without time at Calafia. I actually got married there, so it’s extra special to me and it’s one of my favorite spots to relax, soak up the ocean, and take in beauty. We’d also spend time just wandering through San Clemente and Dana Point strolling the shops, and because books are a staple in all of my friendships, we’d end up spending way too much time at Beach Town Books.
And finally, we’d take a day trip to the San Diego Zoo. It’s one of my favorite places in the country, and it never disappoints. Between delicious foods, slow beach days, and a few memorable outings, I think that’s the perfect way to soak in everything this area has to offer.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband, who also happens to be a therapist, has been a huge source of encouragement and inspiration in following my dreams. I’m also so grateful to my parents for always supporting me and reminding me that I could build something meaningful. On the business side, Tiffany McLain’s money mindset podcast for therapists was a game-changer when I opened my practice. It helped me see that I could follow my passion, serve my community, and also create stability for my family.
