Meet Folkolia Studio | Branding & Digital Design Studio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Folkolia Studio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Folkolia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Making the decision to leave each of our jobs to start working on our own was not easy, the main fear for those of us who decided to open our own business is the uncertainty of knowing if it will work or not, but it is part of the challenge.
We started in order to make projects that not only excite us and challenge us at the same time, but also to capture a little more of our ideas and things that we could not find around us or at least in Tijuana.
The process is challenging because there will always be ups and downs, even thinking about giving up, but in the end the satisfaction of knowing that you are doing what you love is worth it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
It hasn’t been a straight line and that’s the exciting thing about having Folkolia, but trying to maintain our business and know how to charge well for our work is something we’ve had to learn to keep the line up. Along the way we have had reinventions of each other and of our approach, from creating our own events and projects to be able to experiment, redefining concepts and styles to make them known and thus attract and expand our work towards the approach we seek. We appreciate those reinventions that have kept us here finding new shapes and inspiration along the way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A perfect day in Tijuana would be first starting with a coffee in the Cacho area by the morning, followed by a quick visit to some local design stores, then walk through downtown and have a craft beer and have lunch in some local business and end up on Playas de Tijuana enjoying a coffee with the sunset.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To all our clients, who are the reason why Folkolia continues growing up, because without them we wouldn’t keep working on what we love. 80% of our clients have been by recommendations, having their trust in our work makes everything worthwhile.
To our teachers, friends and family who have paved the way for us to create our project, all the experience of our old jobs that shaped us professionally and finally to us, who without each other we would not continue here answering these questions.
