We had the good fortune of connecting with Filippo Magnani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Filippo, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I think that my success is mainly due to these personal characteristic: GENUINE, EMPATHIC PROFESSIONAL Genuine: I love real (authentic) and direct people. My mission in life and in my travel business is to create a welcome, relaxing atmosphere . That reflets also the way I deal with my clients. I wish them to feel like a bleed local.. Empathic: I firmely believe in partnership and cooperaton. Most of my success has been bult on personal relationship with everybody. Clients, Partners, Competitors. Professional: since beginninig I have always inivested in know how and knoledge about traveling, wine and Italian territories, culture and history.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born and raised in Suvereto, a beautiful, unspoilt medieval village on the coast of Tuscany, Italy. In 1996, I graduated with a degree in Hotel and Tourism management at the University of Economics in Florence, followed by an MBA in Hospitality Management at Brighton University (UK). During my studies and after graduation, I worked as an F&B manager in several luxury hotel chains including Westin Hotels, Relais & Chateaux, and Kempinski Hotels in the United States, England, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. I began my career in the world of wine in 1999 when, at the age of 26, I founded Fufluns, a travel boutique concierge company specialized in customized wine tours in Tuscany and other regions of Italy for both wine professional and wine enthusiasts. I speak English, French and German fluently. After attending a number of tastings and trips in different wine countries I got the wine bug and I earned a degree in 2001 at Le Conseil Interprofessionnel du Vin de Bordeaux (France). Two years later, I enrolled in the WSET program. After a period of long, intense studies between Tuscany and London, I completed the WSET Diploma in 2006, which is considered one of the pinnacles of professional wine qualifications. ” I was so honored to have achieved such a great result. That was the beginning of a deeper involvement in the global business of wine. Over the last 12 years I have been contracted by a host of different corporations to perform consultancy services such as wine buying, training, public speaking, wine writing and judging.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Of course my beloved Tuscany in Italy .. So many places, beautiful cities such as Florence, Siena, Pisa but also hidden gems, rural villages like my home town Suvereto on the Tuscan coast. People can really explore the finest Super Tuscans of Bolgheri, the jewels of Brunello di Montalcino, and the classics of Chianti Classico and Nobile di Montepulciano. Nowhere is this truer than in the area of food, and nowhere in Italy is the gastronomic variety that results more marked than in Tuscany. Each inspiring itinerary in Tuscany will give you privileged access to the region’s most prized wine estates, local, fine restaurants and other gastronomic production, ensuring learning through enjoyment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course my mam (la mamma in Italy is very important) . In my entire life I have always supported and thought about poor people, I have always allocated part of my profit to support charity organizations I thank all of them because they give to me the energy to keep going in what I do. It is the first time that I declared it.
