We had the good fortune of connecting with Fatima Hamade and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fatima, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
If you really want it, you should always keep going. And when you fail it’s just another opportunity to start again, but this time with the wisdom you have gained.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey on becoming a pharmacist was a long process. It took 6 years of college to graduate with a doctorate in pharmacy.

The journey was not easy, as it’s a competitive field. Besides many hours of studying, I had to put a lot of hours in training to graduate as a pharmacist. It took discipline, dedication and patience to graduate as a pharmacist.

After 10 years of working as a clinical pharmacist I made the daring step of opening my own independent pharmacy. There have been challenges to opening your own pharmacy, especially when you have been accustomed to receiving a paycheck your entire your career. To overcome this challenge for any person thinking about opening their own business, you have to be patient. Most businesses take time. And just like my pharmacy degree took time to obtain, my business needs time as well. Patience, determination, and seeing failure as an opportunity have helped my business grow.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The love and encouragement from my grandma has led to my success. She was my greatest role model of a strong independent female and shaped me into the the professional and entrepreneur I am today.

She showed me the sky is the limit with hard work and determination.
