Meet Ethan Alijah | Singer/Songwriter, Performer, & Audio Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ethan Alijah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ethan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose an artistic career because I grew up with a fascination for music and art. My parents both loved music, and were always playing it around the house when I was a kid. In middle school, my grandpa taught me how to play trumpet, and from then I learned how to sing and play guitar. I knew I wanted to make a living off of music or audio engineering, so I eventually went to school for recording arts and later on started working at a commercial recording studio in San Diego.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Ethan Alijah and I am a music producer/singer-songwriter/audio engineer. I spend most of my days working at a commercial recording studio in San Diego where I produce, record, and mix music. I am very proud to say that I kept the promise to myself to keep moving forward in my creative career and to not give up. Although this creative journey has not been easy, it is very rewarding. To me, there is nothing better than sitting in the studio with a band that I enjoy and creating music together. If I were to talk to the kid version of myself, I think he would be going absolutely crazy with excitement; I would also probably tell that kid to go easier on himself in his early adulthood and understand that it is okay to not be where I want to be (success-wise) yet. Not everyday of my life is perfect, but I do find a lot of perfection in those days.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take them to a concert. After the concert I am sure that we would go to some place that is open past midnight for dinner (or early breakfast??). Most of our nights would probably be spent with little amounts of sleep and we would go on random adventures around the town that I live in, or travel to the nearest city and hop on the subway just for fun. Most of the time, I enjoy spontaneity when it is appropriate.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my family, for always supporting me and my journey.
