We had the good fortune of connecting with Ember Stark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ember, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I’m a parent of two amazing humans, now adults 20 & 22. It’s hard to narrow down the “most” important thing I’ve done to impact my children. I would love to ask them to answer this question? I can tell you what I think it could be? I’ve worked hard to showcase my career around embracing and sharing space for authentic expression in myself and those who come to me as their hairstylist. What I mean by this, is although year to year there are trending looks that might be popular, there is no right or wrong way to express your hair style. There is no “cookie cutter” or “box” to check for a look that everyone needs to achieve. One’s hairstyle should be authentic to the persons individual expression and uniqueness. My children see beauty and acceptance in all forms of creative style and I believe that’s because of the example I’ve set in my salon space and life’s work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m most proud of my persistence in mastering my trade, and the many hours and years dedicated to my skill. It was not always easy and can be challenging on the mind and body. Prioritizing my health has giving me longevity in my career, as I am coming up on 26 years behind the chair working experience. My brand story is about educating and providing clean beauty climate compensated hair care options to not only protect our world and earth but also protect our personal health.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would book us a spa weekend at the newly renovated Park Hyatt Aviara. Where we would pamper ourselves at the Miraval Life in Balance Spa on property. Located in north San Diego within Carlsbad’s only AAA Five Diamond luxury resort, This spa company is all about self care and recognizing intention as a unique individual. There I would book us mornings full of massage and meditation. Afternoons of fitness with aerial yoga, bungee yoga, or pilates. Then evenings of culinary classes and fine dining dinner overlooking the beautiful golf course on property.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To Matthew, my soulmate and life partner of 26 years. Thank you for seeing the equality and importance of my career. Thank you for the support sharing space to achieve both of our career’s success while raising our family together.
