Meet Elizabeth Jackson | Owner, Homespun Long Beach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, what principle do you value most?
Keeping everything local is really important to me. All the materials I use are locally-sourced, and every creator I work with is right here in Long Beach. When I started Homespun, my goal wasn’t just to do something I love. I also wanted to make sure that I was supporting the community.

What should our readers know about your business?
Homespun is a service I created that focuses on two things: seasonal porch decorating and plant gift delivery.
I love decorating for the holidays, especially my front porch. I realized that a lot of people don’t have the time to decorate but would also like to have a welcoming, festive porch, so I thought, why not create a business where I do it for you?
Each fall and winter I create a pricing list of packages. Once you choose a package, I shop for everything, deliver, and decorate your porch! You don’t even have to be home. All the materials I use are locally-sourced.
I also offer year-round plant delivery. Sending flowers is nice, but can be expensive and they don’t last. Why not have a beautiful potted plant delivered to a friend instead? You can choose from an array of designs for any occasion and order directly through my website!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in Long Beach, but one of my favorite things to do is eat! My perfect day would begin with breakfast at The Potholder Cafe. Then we’d head to 4th Street to stop by my favorite book store, Page Against The Machine, and grab a coffee at Coffee Drunk. After that we could get lunch at MVP’s and go for a walk through Shoreline Village. The best way to end the day would be with dinner at Taqueria La Mexicana and some ice cream at Handel’s. A few more spots that deserve honorable mentions: Rancho Los Alamitos, the El Dorado Nature Center, Fingerprints, and Joe Jost’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Starting a business with two toddlers at home is no easy feat. I couldn’t have built Homespun without the support of my husband. I’m so lucky to have him.
