Meet Elizabeth Flores | El Chilosito

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Flores and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’m a very social person, I enjoy hosting and being around family and friends, with that came making yummy snacks. I enjoyed making, and providing those around me, yummy treats to enjoy. After some convincing and encouragement from friends and family, I decided to finally put myself out there and share them with others, which was the beginning of El Chilosito.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Outside of El Chilosito, I spend my time supporting students and families in the school setting. I have a passion for helping others and have been doing so for the last 14 years. I enjoy connecting with families, providing resources and tools to break barriers and help further their education.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting me for a week, I would kick of the visit by taking her to a local Small Business Pop-Up. I love attending local Pop-ups to build community, enjoy the delicious food and to shop! I would take them to my favorite restaurants and bars, especially El Ranchero and Claim Jumpers. We’d enjoy some time sightseeing, specifically Laguana Beach, & Hollywood. I’d include time at Victoria Gardens, bowling, and catch a movie at the drive-in, to enjoy Cali weather. I would finish the trip by cooking their favorite meal and providing them with drinks that include my delicious rim paste.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my family members, friends and supporters for encouraging me to move forward with my small business. Thank you for your support, encouragement, motivation to pursue a dream. I would like to thank my friend, Jacqueline, for introducing me to Pop-ups and helping me navigate the initial first steps. In addition. I would also like to thank my friend Alex and Brittney, for encouraging me and pushing me to make my business official. I would like to thank Mallory (from the Honeybee Design & Print) for her support in designing my brand. Finally, and most importantly, I would like to thank my husband Eric, for his unconditional support throughout this journey. Thank you for helping me and attending events with me. Thank you for always having a good attitude about it and for motivating me to continue to blossom.
