We had the good fortune of connecting with Edith Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edith, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I like the idea of making a difference in the world and creating my own mark. I am a great believer in pursuing one’s passions, achieving financial independence, and having the freedom to control one’s lifestyle and schedule. Being an independent woman since an early age has empowered me to able to support myself and my single mother, who has been my greatest motivation. I have learned to value things like hard work and stay motivated to achieve goals. I hope my determination and passion can one day create something that would last longer than my lifetime.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My interest for travel began when I studied abroad in Italy in 2009. It was my first time spending so much time away from home and in a foreign country. This gave me the opportunity to travel all around Europe and for the wanderlust spark to develop. I then not only wanted to see more of Europe, but the whole world.
It was not until 2014 when I began to see how this passion of mine could potentially turn into something more than just a hobby. I began sharing my experiences as I was travelling, my photos and memories of all the beautiful places I was visiting at the time. Soon I began I slowly grow on social media and surprisingly many people from different parts of the world were interested in what I had to share. Fast-forward to 2019 when companies began to work with me and offer me campaigns to create content that they could use like mine. This was not more than a hobby and a passion of mine. This was turning to be something profitable. I could now charge for what I love most, creating travel and lifestyle content.
I must say that it was not easy to get to that level to charge for something I truly enjoy and turning it into a business. First, there were all the fears. Fear of what is my family going to say, what are my friends and other people that know me going to say by exposing myself on social media. I had to get past the judgements and people who would say to focus on an 8- 5 type of job instead and often bring me down. I always had a strong accent when speaking English as it is not my primary language. I migrated from Mexico to the US and learned the language at a later age. This created a fear of being in front of camaras and others to hear me as I was sharing my content. I just kept myself motivated by focusing on the pleasure I was obtaining from seeing more of the world, working with multiple brands ,being able to help my mother more financially, thinking that I was getting closer to achieving goals and be able to one day leave a mark and have the freedom to control my own time and run this as a full-time business.
If I have been able to do this, I want everyone to know that they can do it too. No matter the challenges or where you are now. It may take years, but just keep yourself focused and motivated and you will achieve your goals.

I would like to dedicate this shoutout to the person that has motivated me and encouraged me to follow my dreams and make what one day seemed unreachable possible, that is my mother.
Without my mother I would not be where I am today.
