We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Harris and Lorenzo Everett  and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, Lorenzo, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Always pushing forward with writing and having new ideas at the forefront of our process. We’re not looking to stay complacent or just be known as a local indie surf group, we want to expand outside our comfort zone and go against the grain. Another habit we enforce is getting together consistently to tighten our sound, share new ideas, and just bond as both musicians and friends.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We are the creative duo behind Superloser. Our music combines the best of the California surf sound with the garage rock timbre and edge of the late 60’s. We always look for new sounds and textures to add to our musical soundscape, and have gotten a chance to start exploring that more with our recent EP “Cherry Soda”. The EP contains four songs from our debut album “Hanging On” that we re-worked to bring a fresh interpretation to our existing repertoire. Along with the EP, we are hitting the road across the United States in July, which is something that other groups in our local scene have not done, so we hope to be leading the charge behind that cause. It’s been a long journey both together and as individuals, we met all the way back in high school and once we both graduated lost touch for a while, then reconnected in 2021 when Dylan was looking for a drummer for the group. Since then we’ve been able to develop a strong relationship again both as musicians and as friends and breathe a whole new life into Superloser. With what we’re doing with Superloser we hope to raise the bar for music that has been set before by groups like The Beach Boys and The Beatles, and just keep expanding sonically.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well one of the first places we’d take someone is Mt. Baldy to see the view, if it’s the right time of year make some snow angels. One of our favorite eateries we’ve loved going to since our high school days is Ranch Burger, who has an excellent variety of food and menudo on the weekend. Another great perk of our hometown is that we’re within an hours drive of Disneyland, the beaches, and downtown LA so the options are kinda limitless. Also, its mandatory to go to Doughnut Man in Glendora.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As a group we’d like to thank the Chino High music program for bringing us together and getting us off to a solid start as musicians. We’d specifically like to thank Joe Correia, our late jazz instructor, for exposing us to a diverse musical library and always encouraging us to push our limits as players.
