We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
What makes me happy is being able to make music, and sharing that music with people to give them a new set of lens to look at life with. Because let’s face it, life is not guaranteed to be easy, hardships are inevitable! But being able to remove yourself and take a walk in someone else’s shoes is something I see as being so valuable and it’s something that music does for me, and that I hope the music I write with Superloser does to others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the frontman of the indie rock group Superloser from Chino, California. Our sound is generally thought of as a unique hybrid of the sixties California sound ushered in by groups like The Beach Boys and The Byrds combined with the sounds of the mid-2000’s garage rock revival groups like Arctic Monkeys and The Strokes. I initially founded the group back in 2019 as The Looselips, and the path since then has definitely not been easy. But every step that has been taken since the groups formation whether it be through lineup changes, the name change, or trying to arrange live performances and recording sessions have all been a step in the right direction and have led to great rewards. One of those rewards included the release of our debut album “Hanging On” in June of 2022. It was released to widespread acclaim, especially within the college radio community where it hit the top 30 on the NACC radio charts, and regionally hit the top 10 in multiple areas, and honestly it left me with just this feeling of being awestruck that people really liked our music. I hope to continue that success with our next album “Inflatable Toys” that is currently in production and due out later this year.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Now the thing about my hometown of Chino is that it’s small and only known for two things: cows and a prison. While some may see that as a lackluster combination the upside to that is the drive to places like the beach, the mountains, Disneyland, and downtown LA are all within an hour commute. There are also some great mom and pop style eateries in my hometown that are perfect such as Super Chili Burger and Flo’s Airport Cafe that serve amazing food, especially for breakfast.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well I can’t be doing an interview as the frontman of Superloser without mentioning the other guys who make up the band. Scott Yergens, Lorenzo Everett, and Francis Abastillas all equally play an active role in creating the unique sounds and wonder of the group, and I am forever grateful and indebted to them. I’d also like to thank my parents who both instilled qualities into my life that played into the songs I’ve written and the drive I have to bring Superloser to a wider audience around the world, as well as loved and supported me from the beginning even if it was from a far. I also can’t miss an opportunity to thank our fans for supporting us nonstop since we first formed in 2019. I would’ve never thought people would like must less listen to the songs I write and like them, so it really means a lot to me. Lastly just thanks to God, because Superloser wouldn’t exist without Him either.
