We had the good fortune of connecting with Duke Dufresne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Duke, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I believe that risk-taking is part of life and business, but that doesn’t imply that reckless risk-taking is acceptable. I always consider the upside and downside of any risk that I take, always ensuring that the downside (worst case) is acceptable to me. If I can’t like with the worst case, then I either find a way to mitigate it, or I don’t proceed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are truly a family business! My wife & I and our four sons work full-time at our brewery and supporting our new restaurant. We are unique in that all 6 of us has an equal voice and an equal vote in all that we do. All decisions are made as a group and we each bring our own perspective to every situation. I believe this had contributed to our success and our ability to appeal to a wide range of customers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to the beach, to Main St in Huntington Beach, and to some of our favorite spots such as Johnny’s Saloon, La Capilla Mexican restaurant and Sushi on Fire. Another fun activity is Deep Sea fishing with Wagner Charters.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife and my four sons.
