We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr Nelson Saavedra General Surgery and Laparoscopy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr Nelson Saavedra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To keep in communication with my patients and teach more about healthy lifestyle to the people

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a doctor in medicine, is a long way from school of medicine to the postgraduate status of general surgeon. 7 years at med school at Baja California UC, after that a national test must be performed to get into a medical speciality called ENARM, I fo through the test and get a good score to get into a great hospital to learn from the state-of-the-art of surgery. I did mi training for 4 years at Tijuana General Hospital and get specialized in minimal invasive surgery at HGZ33 in Monterrey.
The quite challenging is to persever and study, the night-shifts are the heaviest here in Mexico but is when you learn more and do more surgery by yourself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here in Tijuana there plenty good places for dinner and take a few drinks at night, and also we have so close from the city the vineyards, Guadalupe’s valley where you can get some national best brand wine tasting and excelent food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Thanks to my parents, teachers and patient that give me all the support for keep learning over the years and allowed me to get my skills and knowledge in surgical medicine.
